To be fair, it's already incredible that he can play almost every game and such long each game in the regular season without getting injured.
Realistically, the thing that KD himself killed was the illusion that this roster was ready to contend for anything. Unless Jalen Green does hit that 1% chance of turning into a #1 option, in the long run we're not likely to miss what we traded to acquire Durant. The people who actually killed our forward momentum were the Fertittas, Rafael Stone, Ime Udoka, and everyone else involved in leadership decisions in the organization. They're the ones who made the trade, they're the ones who decided to commit in the vicinity of a couple hundred million dollars to signing/extending 30-something veterans on a rebuilding team. It can still be fixed, but only if wiser choices are made than have been so far. Not optimistic about that, unfortunately. But yeah, KD does need to go.
KD really helped out his legacy by riding the Warriors coattails to two championships. He has done nothing since. Just tanked every team he has been on. Such a mistake trading for him. I never got excited when it happened, just hoped for the best. Felt it was 8 years too late. If this happened in 2016? Oh hell yeah.
Rockets were screwed with Jalen Green, and they’re screwed with KD we got screwed in the draft every single year…our young core is a joke
I don't think I'd rather have Dillon and Jalen than KD though. There was a point this season where I sort of thought that, and then I saw Jalen come back and be just as inconsistent as ever and Dillon making the same boneheaded mistakes he did with us. I love Jalen and Dillon both, but I don't think they would have led to us being better in the short or long term. We're not permanently locked into KD. Worst case scenario he can still be moved for value
My only hope is coping that all it takes is getting playmaker like harden to unlock the potential of our young core. But our org is always fking in love with folks like kpj and then fvv as our pg
Stone is just not a good GM. Imagine if his ofseason was this instead. Trade Jabari+Jalen for KD instead Sign NAW instead of DFS Trade the 10th pick of the draft to the Pelicans for thr 23rd pick and 2026 unprotected 1st Even with all his other blunders, if he had just done this, we would at least be able to beat the Lakers and give our young players some better experience, and also have a lottery pick in the upcoming draft to use or trade for perhaps Giannis or another star.
You're absolutely right, but I just feel like KD is more of a scoring threat, and Dillon never seemed to play great clutch defense in my opinion because he fouled too much. Honestly though if we just had a more creative coach and a better constructed team, I feel like we wouldn't even need to have these discussions.
I’m starting to think they should’ve included Jabari I that trade instead. Sengun Jabari And Jalen looks better on paper.
Not trying to disagree with anybody here. The FVV injury happened after the trade. This is a different team with Fred playing. Also, we lost a tremendous amount of steam when adams got hurt. The double big line up was gone and our depth crushed.
He stayed in the locker room to update the group chat on how much everyone on the team except him sucks.
