Say what you will about JVG's putrid offense, but that dude came prepared every game at the defensive end. There are way too many times this season(including in this series) where one seriously has to question what the hell purpose Ime serves as head coach, because the players looked either lost or unmotivated(or both).
If the rockets look woeful again tonight I'll be convinced Ime is trying to get Stone fired for providing him with such an inept roster
The Suns also fired Budenholzer only a year after firing Vogel which itself was a year after firing Monty Williams. They were willing to eat two big contracts and a buyout for Williams that came out to a combined $85 million. And they're much better off for it this season. So Tilman better not opt for mediocrity just because he doesn't want to pay off Ime and admit he f'ed up with that extension.
Also, when he got players that FIT his scheme (Because he had one) the offense took off, when Jon Barry arrived his teams became so much better. If JVG had this team the Rockets would have finished in the top 2 of the league and be up in the playoffs. Ime is a joke of a coach - it is shocking how **** he is. DD
Also JVG had to deal with a T-Mac injury in 2006, a Yao injury in 2007(that he never truly recovered from that season even though he came back for the playoffs), and the disastrous aftermath of what Rudy T had done with the roster prior to his dismissal in 2003. That last factor is something people overlook when evaluating the JVG era. It took years to clean up that mess. I'm glad we had Rick Adelman coaching the team from 2007-08 onward, but he was also fortunate to see a huge infusion of talent when he took the reins. JVG was forced to start Chuck Hayes at PF vs Utah in 2007 and his bench was Juwan Howard, Mutombo, and Luther Head.
Ime got the contract extension and then seemingly mailed it in. Wonder if theres another coach from the Pop tree that did this.
Ime sucks, but I don't see any realistic scenario under any coach where this roster, with the injuries we've dealt with, wins 62 games. Maybe if FVV and Adams had stayed healthy and DFS had come back and played like his pre-Rockets self. Unless you're imagining a scenario where the roster itself is different under a different coach, which... probably? Depending on when this imaginary coaching change hypothetically happened I guess.
Yea, I’m sure by coaching like an idiot, similar to all season that is Udokas excuse you guys seriously listen to yourself? It sounds profoundly moronic
JVG would have called out Stone for giving up on the season during the trade deadline. Tilman would need to hire JVG specifically because Stone is trying to avoid any pushback.
gotta think he gets at least one more year with the full complement of Adams and FVV rejoining the active roster
