OP is correct. This owner sucks. Everything starts with him - Stone, Ime, roster construction. I don't know if we can be a great team as long as he and his family are the owners.

That's debatable, but Ferntits is a funny nickname.

I think Fertitta has been a good owner and isn't scared to spend money or make moves to improve the franchise. He's also done good for UH Athletics.

Not a good track record since taking over. But since the CP3 - Westbrook debacle I appreciate how Tillman has stepped back. I don’t appreciate that he elevated a lawyer to rebuild an nba team.

he doesn’t even care about the organization

some might say he’s stepped back or has been hands off/not a meddler, but I say he just doesn’t give a fck post Harden trade…he’s got bigger and better things to do

his son is unqualified, yet seemingly has a say in organizational decisions

Stone seems to be another one who’s in way over his head

it starts at the top and then trickles down to Ime and the players

The jury is still out on the Fertittas. The CP3/Russ trade was a disaster. Silas was a lousy coach, but he was tasked with tanking, so it's not like hiring a great coach would've meant much. And letting go of Ariza without a suitable replacement was a bad move.

But they also were willing to tank which is something Les Alexander never allowed any of his GMs to do. Which is a big reason we were saddled with a 17 year stretch(nearly 3/4 of his tenure as owner) in which the team won only one playoff series and had 8 trips to the lottery.

I'm not gonna crucify them for the ping pong balls never bouncing our way. Obviously if this team had landed Cade, Wemby, or even Paolo or Chet, we'd be in a far different situation today. This is a massive offseason though for them assuming the Rockets don't come back to win this series. They're going to have to show they're serious about competing and decide whether to settle for running it back with a lousy coach and an aging, injury prone Fred and Steven added back to the roster or to make major changes both with the roster and the coaching staff.

Yeah I think the post harden tank years killed his winning interest in this team.

He was always seen and heard those first 2.5 years of ownership.

Les wasn’t that much better but he stayed out of the way as long as LTS….

I’ve come to appreciate Morey a lot more recently than I used to. Nobody is perfect at their job but some are a lot more sufficient than other

no way Morey would’ve walked into and through this season with a dressing the pg issue. Morey had a regard for that guard position.

NBA owners today might be a little TOO rich. If that makes sense. They don't necessarily need to invest in team success. Just let the team valuation grow on its own. Their team ownership more just a Lamborghini in garage luxury flex for them to claim. Or its they're so mega business minded, it's using the team toward other business ventures not related to on-court performance (Moving the team to Vegas kind of pursuits)

Compared to old NBA 90's & back where, for better and for worse, was more demand for owners in growing the brand through team success, when their bottom line is more affected

He was horrible the first few years only because he was doing the used car salesman BS, crying poor (as he was relatively poor compared to other owners), and chastising any criticism. Post-COVID, he has become comfortable wealthy (relative to other billionaire owners), spent more, and talked less, so I'm actually okay with him now. The criticism of putting his son and lawyer in charge of the team is fair, but bad hiring can be overcome, hopefully. But I also agree that he doesn't care too much nowadays with his ambassador yacht life in Italy.

Counterpoint: Les Alexander was worse, because he almost moved the team to Louisville. True story.
