Ime Udoka, the current head coach of the Houston Rockets, has signed a long-term six-year contract worth $66 million, which will expire at the end of 2025, meaning it is nearly impossible to dismiss him in the short term. Based on the Rockets' current tactical needs, existing roster and team characteristics, what adjustments should be made next?
Nothing is impossible. There's no point in Fertitta being worth 12 billion dollars if being scared to eat a failed 55 million dollar investment keeps you tied to someone who has made you the laughing stock of the NBA. He absolutely has the money to do it.
Like they don't even write in Chinese at any Chinese takeaway where I live, what a really weird ****ing thing to do lmao
If you are not going to fire him, force him to accept hiring offensive assistant coach which has certain power structure to make decision. Revise expectations that he must balance offense and defense and core players need to be developing. If he doesn’t like it he can quit and go somewhere else.
Isn't that what Udoka's doing now? Worse. He's wrecking the team. I can imagine Reed talking to his family: "Dude hates me. I'm sick of this. Maybe in our past lives I failed to pay him back $50? Just don't get it."
There are billionaires who realize they have money to burn. Then there are your Tilmans, your Trumps:
66 million to Fraudoka 53 million to DFS 50 million to Fred 39 million to Steven 21 million to Capela “Rafael, why do we have so much dead weight?” Hopefully he lays off Fraudoka as a favor
Fertitta should give Ime a lofty front office job that has no bearing on personnel or coaching decisions for the remainder of that contract. If he decides to coach elsewhere instead, Ferntits doesn't have to eat as muhc of that money. In the meantime, find a real coach -- someone young and sharp and absolutely not a retread.
Maybe this was all done by design by Ime? Be just good enough to get leadership excited, get a huge contract extension, convince said leadership that they can succeed without a PG, be just good enough to make it to he playoffs only to flame out and be fired in the offseason.. 66 mil to ride into the sunset
