I didn’t think we did enough on o-line in FA but this makes me feel much much better.

Love the pick -- we obviously needed O-line and everyone in the league knew it... which necessitated the trade-up. For years we were jumped, but not this time.

Rutledge really seems like the total package for interior o-line -- braun, BRAINS, and athleticism (3-star basketball recruit)... PLUS you have to be extremely disciplined and committed to mastering form to be a shot put champion... and he's got that dawg in him -- a real nasty streak. A perfect fit -- bienvenidos a bordo!

    GOOD DAY

I really hope he comes out strong right away. As a traded up 1st rounder, he'll be favored to start right away as long as he performs well in camp. I hope to hear good things outta him in practice.

From ESPN. The author left out that we did receive the #91 pick and so it was three picks for two, not one.

    26. Houston Texans: Keylan Rutledge, G, Georgia Tech

Why they picked him: The Texans needed to add young talent on the interior of their offensive line, and this pick does that. Houston has perceived starters in guard Wyatt Teller and Ed Ingram, with Jake Andrews at center. This at least gives Houston a potential starter at a position of need, who, if he becomes effective, would allow the Texans to have a cost-effective player on the interior for the next four to five years. Houston also isn't in a rush to play him either, so the Texans can take their time developing him.

Biggest question: Will Rutledge become a starter in Year 1? The Texans traded the Nos. 28, 69 and 167 overall picks to get Rutledge, so they're clearly excited about what he can become in Houston. The former All-American succeeds at combo blocks while moving up to the second level. That works in Houston because Texans offensive coordinator Nick Caley loves to run gap schemes on the interior where double-teams are called from the guard-and-center combo. -- DJ Bien-Aime

I mean with our line, if he's not a starter in the first season a bit of a problem, it's a big need of course lol so if he can't break into a line that has need of him then yeah...

But love the attitude, I also love drafting guys based on attitude if you feel they meet the talent level. Hate drafting dudes where you hear stuff like "Not really motivated..." always a good chance at a bust.
