I've wanted a OC that wouldn't cave when a big fatty bull rushes him. Big Red can be that dude.

Physically I believe he has what we need to be a starting Center. However, Center is also the brains of your OL, so I'm not sure if he's ready to start as a rookie with no real game experience there (accept some snaps in Sr Bowl).

If he's a quick learner, then we'll see how well he does in TC/Preseason.

    Very happy with this pick.

Just reposting this from the other thread:

rumor is that he was the 49ers target…which is why they traded out of their pick right after the Texans took him. Nice move :)

I don't know, I would want an offensive coordinator that knows to get out of the way when a "big fatty" is coming at him.

I'm pretty sure he's playing center

I LOVE this pick..................he is nasty and a blue collar, bring your lunch pail to work kind of guy. Will he start on day 1, I am not sure, but he is depth and a look at the future, he has the mind set this team needs, we are going to be physical run first team

with the next pick we have a few edge rushers I like, let's build the depth and the future

Hopefully he will be able to help us immediately and that he truly is a quick learner.

Essentially he is forgetting about dropping 20 spots in the third. I guess semantics.

The praise for Keyon Green after he was selected was almost 100% positive from the press. We know how that turned out. I have high hopes for Rutledge and I’m glad we went offensive line. But, I’m not going to assume anything. The Texans have a poor track record when it comes to the offensive line. Hopefully Rutledge becomes a better than average player and develops fairly quickly. Fingers crossed.
