Just saw the Texans drafted Rutledge. I was nervous they might wait, thinking he would be around at 38 or later. I'm happy they drafted him, but I did like having the 3rd pick
“If he’s good we won’t remember we traded a 3rd for him” DUH we can say that about any pick! He was a reach here. Don’t care of Niners traded out of the slot. Whether they like him or another pick. They could have easily decided to just trade back because of another player.
I questioned if this was worth the trade up as well, but people saying this guy was so far down your ESPN draft tracker is just r****ded… ESPN’s draft ranking is not the NFL teams draft ranking especially not the individual team they are wildly different. That’s why you see people drafting people 10 spots higher. They don’t evaluate them the way the Talking Heads on ESPN do… it’s just silly to talk like that
That’s not what I saw, the guy doing analysis said he was his favorite player in the draft and loved how he finishes strong. And they ran a clip of 3 of his highlights.
I don't know why they think SF would have picked him. He was way down the list of best available players. Regardless, I'm all for improving our horrific offensive line. I hope he's going to make an impact. Next, how about Connor Lew at center.
I just feel like that has to be it. Could be a shrewd move…IF Caserio didn’t draft another Victoria’s Secret lineman (big bust).
I just Googled "Rutledge 49'ers" and according to what came up, the 49'ers were genuinely very high on Rutledge, to such a degree that a ton of reporters had been projecting him to San Fran at 27.
So, we move up to pick a guy who was lower down the poll, who almost lost a limb in a horrible car accident. Yeah, sure, Caserio is a genius. This is why our offensive line never gets better.
Who cares. They are getting a potential starting CENTER, to round out the OL. Remember the coach used to be with 49ers and they traded out when Texans traded. Could have waited, sure, whats more important is, IS HE GOING TO PAN OUT? They are high enough on him to make this move. Besides, if they didn't move and he is gone, you would not have know the team wanted him. Not BPA? In who's book? Its the best they think and they traded up for him.
Well, then that makes sense. We needed the best offensive linemen we can get, especially if the Texans really liked him.
