Jalen isnt a good player, but im thinking maybe I was too hard on him. Last year when Ime had "a real pg" we saw the same thing we see with KD this year. Just willingly putting the ball in a players hands over and over who is more suited as a play finisher and expecting them to just overcome it. Jalen is nowhere near KD and Ime let K-fukn-D be completely taken out of an entire half of a playoff game. Jalen's mediocre ass never stood a chance. Youve got to be an extraordinarily incompetent coach for that to happen. Theres gen alpha kids playing 2k in their bedrooms that could come with a better offensive game plans.
Jalen fans: Sengun is ass! I told you we traded the wrong guy! Sengun fans: I told you Jalen is ass! Jalen playin’ peek-a-boo with Sengun.
FFS, the only reason Kennard is on the upper left is because we suck. As for Jalen, it's pretty apparent he'll never be high-efficiency except on maybe 1 out of 4 games when he goes off against the right opponent. Good coaches know exactly how to neutralize him. But that's the maddening thing: He's got some crazy talent as a scorer, and I suspect that the right coach could figure out how to put him in situations that would minimize his flaws and take advantage of the things he's great at. Not to mention actually coaching him to improve in important areas. Unfortunately for us, Silas and Udoka do not qualify as good coaches. Maybe Jordan Ott can figure it out once he's had more time with the kid. Then again, maybe no coach will ever make a big difference.
Rockets, Spurs, Magic = quadrant of ass Jalen, Sengun, Amen, Jabari Bane, Suggs, Banchero, Wagner Castle, Vassell, Fox
Hope Jalen turns it around the rest of the series. But obviously we are seeing the reason why Stone got it wrong back in 2021 and why we ultimately moved on. Huge highs and huge lows with Jalen. If he ever finds that elusive consistency he’ll be a really good player. But until then, he’s a high-end microwave scorer 6th man.
Jalen relies on shitty fade aways and still cannot get past his guy consistently. Still, I don't fault Stone for getting him. It was worth the gamble. Maybe Ime didn't help him and stifled his development even, but that's always a what if we had a better development program / coaching staff or whatever.
Don't forget Jabari trying to hide behind Amen too. 4 starters really being coached well by the Udicker. And people want to complain about trading for KD.
Is he really a 6th man? Lou Will, Jamal Crawford, Eric Gordon. Those are 6th men. You can rely on them to come in off the bench and light up the other team's bench. Jalen is not reliable to come off the bench, did you not see his stats doing that with the Suns? He's just a bust.
