Damn I don't like when a player I want and the Texans are linked because then I'll be upset if they don't get them. But I also know the Texans don't usually have much of anything leak so I don't know what to believe.
Maybe doing due diligence? wouldn't mind a move up for Love, Styles, Proctor, or Ioane 1-28 + 3-69 gets into the 17-18 range
I’d only stay in the 1st if B. Miller or Iaenanchor fall. But I much prefer trading back (say with Arizona) for 2.34, 4.104, 5.141 I think the options in Day 2 and the later rounds are deep. I’d want all the picks I could get even flipping 2.59 for 2 3rd’s. Fave Day 2 Options. C. MILLER DT RUTLEDGE OR PREGNON G JACAS OR A. HILL JR OR GOLDAY OLB CISSE OR ABNEY III CB J. PRICE HB BRAZELL III WR KLARE TE 4 & 5 RDS LEW, HECHT, KUHN, SLAUGHTER C E. JOHNSON HB TRIGG, ENDRIES TE TAAFE S
It's completely normal for Caserio and every other GM to make calls to other GM's to talk possible trades.
wouldn't be doing your job if you didn't,,,, never know when another team's GM will accept 3 2nd round picks for a top 10 pick (Draft Day... LMAO)
SIAP. From Jeremy Fowler ESPN: 28. Arizona Cardinals (via projected trade with HOU) Miller's pick prediction: Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama Simpson's wait would end here. I'm told Houston is a natural trade-up point based on Arizona GM Monti Ossenfort's past dealings with Texans GM Nick Caserio -- they pulled off a blockbuster trade for the No. 3 pick in 2023. Simpson's suitors are limited, at least based on predraft conversations, with many around the league believing the Cardinals would be the only legitimate option for him inside the top 40. Moving up here could fend off the Jets at No. 33. Is Arizona willing to miss out on a QB it likes by waiting? Fowler's intel: The Cardinals are considered the most natural suitor for Simpson in league circles. The Jets are a threat with the first pick of Day 2, but a few teams I've spoken to believe New York is looking toward 2027 to spend an early pick on a quarterback and could try to leverage the 33rd pick as Simpson trade bait if he's there. Arizona seems to be gauging whether it needs to move up to get Simpson or whether he'll be available with its second-round pick (No. 34). If Houston stays put, it has done a lot of homework on the offensive line. Guard Keylan Rutledge (Georgia Tech) is a player the Texans like, and they are also high on defensive tackle Kayden McDonald (Ohio State).

This specific draft, for once I'm fine with trading UP, though I usually like getting extra picks This team isn't needing to plug multiple holes all over. Not really needing volumes of picks to increase chances of finding a player. They can get the highest talents at key positions. Sure it'd be nice to have an extra pick or 2 as hedge against busts. But they can say they went after the best for this defense without skimping Though I'm not a big fan on Caserio's draft slot valuations. I trust his trade downs more than this trade ups. After the Will Anderson draft day trade, he said smugly (inexact words) "What is "draft pick valuation" anyway? Tell me what that means?" As though "his" process "transcended beyond our meaning of draft capital" or something. Like shut up bro you damn well know certain slots have certain values to it lol. But in this ultimate "win now" window, a trade up is more excusable
Slots have values that change with players available.Don't forget that second part. And all this is surrounded by the certainty that there will be uncertainty, before during and after the picks and/or trades. Though it is fun to pretend we know, the reality is that we know less than our Pros and even they have to deal with uncertainty. They are like card counters. All they can do is play the odds and adjust to what they know. I like the front office because they seem to hit ceilings better than most. I like the value and depth plays with Free Agency and trades. I also would like to see if we could move up when others want to move down because I value fifth year options for more than just QBs. It worked for WAJ just this last week by adding the years of the extension from 27-29 to 28-30. I'd like something similar with a player like Caleb Banks, who has availability concerns along with high ceilings. Locking him in for a fifth year option just sounds like a smart move just for his ceiling.
