Neither looks like a superstar player that you build around. But, Amen is more capable of being a high level role player next to a superstar. Sengun is a net negative unless you are running things through him to take advantage of his passing. He's gonna give up points on the other end so he has to be creating shots on offense to justify his minutes. So, you keep Amen because worst case he can be an energy 3/4 that will defend/rebound. As long as there's other shooters on the court he won't tank the offense either.
Amen! I love Sengun’s talent and effort but he’s very frustrating to watch sometimes. Amen is less so
Considering what Amen has accomplished outside of the NBA in high school and Elite 8, I could see why you would take that position.
This seems like a ridiculous time to make this thread if you want any kind of meaningful result. Only the most absurd diehard Sengun fans would vote for him after the first two games of this laker series. If he continues to play this bad for the rest of the series then the answer is obvious and nobody would argue otherwise. If he turns it around and has some big games, even wins us some games, and we win the series, then opinions will change. I think you should remake this after the playoffs are over. Unless your point was to snapshot the current opinion of Sengun, but again, I think that's fairly obvious and doesn't need a poll. You knew this would be the result before you made the thread.
I voted Sengun but it’s really a toss up. I’d love to see both of them in a structured offense before making a decision. I feel like this coaching staff is really letting everyone down.
I know people are upset but even a treadmill team builds around someone. The only teams that don’t build around someone are tanking teams. The fact that your best player is not amazing doesn’t mean you don’t build around them. Building around someone is done to achieve efficiencies and synergies. It informs the type of role players or draft picks you get. If your best player is Clint Capela, you still put 4 shooters around him. Especially if you plan to trade him, you should inflate his performance first. That’s why I didn’t include a neither option. I tonight people would just hate-vote “neither” at this time.
Aside from defense, what exactly is Amen able to do in this Lakers series? Their plan against the Rockets is double KD and pack the paint against Sengun while sagging off players like Amen. Amen had a better game 2 but he wasn't punishing the Lakers defensive plan since packing the paint works against Amen just like Sengun. What are we building around exactly with Amen? Defensive wing and secondary playmaking? The gap between Amen being able to create his own shot and Sengun is wide.
Amen. But I wouldn’t build the team around him. We need to find a franchise player. And that franchise player needs to be a shooter. Amen will fit in.
Don't get me wrong, I know Amen's value. But as long as he doesn't develop a shot he's not our guy and like many ppl say, I don't expect him to develop it. I see them both gone in the next 2 years, the experiment has failed, If you include Tari and JSJ in this list, I wouldn't keep them, too many injuries and too soft. There's war dogs out there and all we have is charmin
Fair point but I absolutely did not know this would be the result, in my eyes they’ve both been disappointing. I’m as disappointed with Amens defense as Senguns offense. Thought everyone roughly felt that way too but obviously not the case. Anyway, the votes are changeable.
I said Amen but it’s close. It would depend who would be around them. If we traded Sengun play whatever for Giannis then I’d want to keep Amen. if we got an elite PG then I would keep Sengun, but we would have to run the offense, very old school and let him be the hub.
That's the problem.. Neither is who I'd build around.. You can build a good additional offensive scheme ( plays) with Sengun as the focal point due to his passing ability but if he's the guy for the totality of your offensive identity , prepare to be fired within a few years... I'd rather keep Amen outta the two because he'd be a great, awesome 3rd option due to his downhill attack game.. But I wouldn't dare " build" a team around him..
With Ime as coach? Gotta go Amen. The Udicker doesn't have the coaching chops to coach offense. Basically, cross your fingers and hope Amen develops a shot.
Amen can physically impose his will on a game, he has iq and physical traits but he is being used to band aid every issue and spreads him thin. Perimeter player killing us? Put Amen on him. No point guard? Use Amen. Stephen Adams down? Don't worry, Amen is the best offensive rebounding wing and can tip in game winners. He needs a role he can grow in and surrounded by quick decision making, high iq shooters. Sengun is a slow footed undersized center with average at best athleticism and inconsistent focus with touch around the rim and passing that comes and go
No point guard? Amen? Really? I guess I missed Amen's playmaking brilliance this season watching defenses sag way off him. So basically he's a good offensive rebounder, putting up second chance points, can do some secondary playmaking, and great in transition on the offensive end? So three years in and he needs a role to grow into offensively......? Truthfully the bolded could apply to building around Sengun too. Again, the difference between Sengun and Amen creating their own shot is wide. Sengun is 5th in the NBA in unassisted scoring percentage.
Is this a serious question?? Im going to play along because I want ti see how many people voted for Sengun
