Should have been a sweep, but I'll take the series win with the way this team is going. Double digits in wins, finally
Haven't had many games like this.... DOMINANT pitching. Yordan, another HR (that runner on, though!!!), league leading 11th and 26th RBI Altuve, hit-less series Paredes, hit in every game (Yordan too) Astros threw 3 of 4 pitchers today with a passable ERA. Lambert dropped to 3.27 Yankees next at Diakin. They lead their division but aren't balling out of control. Very winnable series if we don't walk the bases loaded. Ben Rice (2nd) has an OPS similar to Yordan. His fortune probably decreases when Spaghetti and Co get cooking.
Looks like Peter Lambert is definitely getting a "fresh start" boost. The Rockies had been his only organization since turning pro. He did well in the minors, got rushed to the majors and then had to deal with injuries and being a part of some really bad Rockies teams.
Dana Brown liked him - so they brought him into Spring Training. He pitched well for most of Spring Training, and Dana Brown and the pitching coach both made comments about his stuff being pretty good, and better than his career performance. Of course, 24 hours later he got roughed up and did not make the team because of numbers. The Astros convinced him to remain in the organization and he is here now. Issue with him has been performance. I know that Brown has the view that pitching for the Rockies can destroy careers... and Lambert has spent his entire career with Colorado. Maybe they captured something here -- but from what I have seen, he will look good for 2-3 appearances and then get lit up, seems to be no in-between.
Doesn't it suck when Yordan is having a great mvp level year so far just for pitching to fall apart? I hope we don't waste his year, and pitching turns around.
At this point, 2 good/average starts and 1 bad start is better than anything else the Astros have. And 4 walks in 11 innings is elite for this staff.
Arguably the Astros best start of the season. We need a few good surprise performances ala Alexander and Blanco.
Enyel was part took in the meltdown yesterday. Struggled to throw strikes so the jury is still out on him.
Call me an optimist, but I think we can cobble up enough starting pitching to not get buried in the standings in the AL West.
