Agreed - It just blows my mind that people think Alpi has actually played in the post at all this series (or even this year). He's having to dribble into the paint where he's instantly met by two or more defenders which has him backpedaling rather than going toward to the basket when he . All because nobody on this roster can make an entry pass or get in the right position on the floor. If we had forced Hakeem to start his post moves out at the 3 pt line, he'd probably have punched out the coach and would have spent the 2nd half of his career in Miami. Maybe that's what Alpi should do - pop Udoka in the mouth during one of his worthless rants. He's also getting clobbered but that's to be expected when you play the Lakers so fair or not, he can't use that as an excuse. And let's be real - it isn't Ayton or Jackon Hayes who's killing us in this series - it's all the wide open 3s we're giving up to Kennard and everyone else. You can't blame Alpi for that - that's 100% on our perimeter guys.
They really don’t care even if tari gets an open shot who was leading the league in 3 pt %. Sengun is playing bad but coaching and perimeter shooting issues are very real as well. on Sengun’s side he could me more decisive, faster decisions and finish better but he is limited by how slow the team is, how much effort he has to put to get into spots and how crowded it is there. Slowness is killing the whole team.
Probably not a coincidence that the other team in the playoffs who starts a Thompson twin had the same problem in their first game. (Not saying that this is on the twins btw)
bickerstaff is also a Udoka type coach. Just more lucky to have Cade and being in the east. And still loses to Orlando. They don’t belong to the modern NBA. The average Joe coaches of the NBA are being exposed and I think we will see younger and probably more European coaches as well. same with Silas actually. These guys made their way by being ex players or networking but the current advances in basketball does not tolerate that any more.
Let's go down the list ATL - seems unlikely they'd want him but I guess you could get Risacher and Kispert Boston - lol, no, next Brooklyn - they absolutely suck, but I guess we could give htem their draft pick & Sengun for Claxton & matching. Maybe this one works. Bulls - they're in a deep rebuild & they already have a non-shooter in Giddey - I doubt it. I guess you could swap Sengun for Giddey. Hornets - Don't need him, Diabate & Kalkenbrenner are better for what they do. Cavs - lol no unless they somehow lose in the first round & harden leaves, maybe you can get Jarrett Allen. Mavericks - PJ Washington and change? Nuggest - LOL Pistons - LOL Warriors - seems unlikely & they have no one to trade. Butler & a draft pick? Draymond? Pacer - Nope, just got Zubac Clippers - Have nobody to trade for/no picks to trade Lakers - Austin Reaves is possilbe but good luck getting them to trade for him after this series, also Doncic needs a rim runner, not Sengun. Grizz - Ja Morant, come on down Heat - nope, 2 of their top 4 guys are C's. Bucks - the Giannis deal TWolves - Randle fits, maybe they play double big. I guess you could ask about Gobert but you'd have to attach somehting. Pelicans - I'd take Zion, but Sengun is redundnat of Derik Queen Knicks - Yeah you could take on 120 million of KAT here, not sure how the salaries match. Thunder - LOL Orlando - they have the same problem with Banchero Sixers - You're taking on George or Embiid and you have to attach another player. Suns - Sengun for Green works lololol Portland - Doubt they wnat him over Clingan, but you could take on Jrue or Jerami I guess. Kings - same problem with Sabonis. Spurs LOL Raptors - This one works the best, take your pick of Quickley, Barret, ingram, Jazz - have millions invested in Markk, Jackson Jr, will resign Kessler, no Wizards - No, just brought on AD. So, I see 4-5 teams that could realistically absorb Sengun and that would require them to be big believers in him coming off an absolutely disastrous playoffs so far and a mediocre regular season (despite the pitiful all star nod) that shows he's basically plateaued. Brookly would do it for their draft pick back. Toronto is a good candidate. Those are my top 2 right now. Of course, with each game the list of buyers will shrink if this keeps up.
I don't recall a single clutch fan here asking that question . . . but if I were to guess I imagine it has something to do symbolically with his being a one-dimensional player?
this guy gets it! I believe so. One dimensional player, he stays on 1st gear when running down the court and probably because he’s broke from all his shopping sprees, he can only afford half the haircut.
I would suggest the best bet is to take back bad money and get more in return. So, Sixers, GSW, Knicks (Anunoby, Bridges, Towns are all overpaid), Raptors like you said I guess. I don't see us contending for at least two more seasons anyway. Send KD to one of these teams too, similar trade.
Sengun + DFS for Towns works - remember Towns is second only to Embiid in terms of horrific contracts but maybe you can get a low 1st out of it for your trouble.
Towns does make some sense, if you want to see what Amen looks like with a real stretch big. He's soft and you're not contending for anything, but it should open up the offense at least.
Sengun has regressed, but I wouldn't give him away. No chance. He needs a better supporting cast and, frankly, a better system to work out of. Yes he is flawed and looks like a clumsy bumbling idiot out there at times, but he's not, he's highly skilled and his talent is being wasted. It might be best for everyone if he was to move on, but there's no way I'd just give him away. Having said that, I fully expect some package of him and Reed in a deal for Giannis. Stone is going to panic buy and sell his soul for a quick fix if they don't turn it around against the Lakers.
A part of me is still curious to see what he would look like in a modern nba offense with a true point guard and 4 shooters
Why does Milwaukee want to build around Sengun - I think the argument for Sengun as a foundational piece rather than an overpaid specialist is coming down decisively on the latter side. The whole point of a franchise type guy is that you can build around him with a wide range of players; Sengun instead needs a highly specific mix of players to cope with his glaring weaknesses, (all NBA defenders, elite shooters, a lead ball handler) That's why sending him somewhere like NY (in the same boat with Towns) seems to make more sense to me than Milwaukee
Roosh has spent years playing the part of the loudest guy in the room, the one who laughs off criticism of Alperen Sengun like it's beneath him. You don't know ball like I do! And for a while, that posture works, but we all recall how much he scoffed at the Rockets for not building entirely and unquestionably around his beloved. Roosh admitting he is wrong isn't something he can do because it's an identity hit. At some point, it stops being about basketball analysis and starts looking a lot more like ego preservation.
This is exactly the tension, isn't it? The conversation starts with "just trade him!" like it's a simple lever you can pull but then you look a little closer, at the contract, at the timing, at the way this series has shaped perception, and suddenly it's messy. They should have cashed in last June.
A part of me is still curious to see what he would look like in a true crew cut instead of that symbolic one-sided fade
