ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Lakers 4/21/2026 (Playoffs Round 1, Game 2)

The players don’t know how to move off ball to get open, how to cut, how to help the player who gets double teamed. If you had fvv, this would be less of a problem. But you don’t and you don’t play your other pg. and instead of working on solving the problem collectively you think giving the ball to kd will solve it. You can’t play this in 2026, you gotta move. You couldn’t even succeeded in giving the ball to Kd consistently let alone make it work after he gets the ball.

 

In hindsight he was a massive loss. Just a perfect player for this brick laying team.

KD’s 9 turnovers was awful no excuse for that but our boneheaded dumbass coach constantly has him running point for no reason. He isn’t and has never been a point guard, when he was younger he had some point forward in his game but he’s always been a liability dribbling the ball,

 

We been wrong since adams went out. As immobile as he was, his better D than goon and two or three extra generated shots a game have proven critical over the second half of the season.

 

Let's rebuild again.

It's not hard for an NBA coach to figure that out lol

 

He's supposed to dominate the paint but he takes the ball at the perimeter. Whenever he finds an opportunity to drive into the paint, they double team him and somehow either there's no one to pass or that person bricks. How can he dominate the paint when you don't have any offensive plan to get him there in the first place?

 

Um or blame Ime for not playing the guards...

 

Stayed up late to watch this pathetic performance, won’t happen again on a work day. What an embarrassment…

 

Now that you mention it, it does feel like Amen should be a 2-3 combo guard, not a point.

Good PGs were hard to come by, and i guess we didn't wanna throw in one of our promising young talents to get one. Too late now to even think about it, unfortunately for Ime.

 

Worst part is the coaching staff and front office are going to chalk it up to no Fred no Steven

 

He's not supposed to be the point guard, but Ime won't play one.

 

At least the local crackhead would be able to make adjustments. He's used to being creative to get his fix

Maybe Ime needs a little of that

 

It’s a low IQ team and it’s flawed, but idk about all that. Coaching does make a difference. It’s not NFL level difference, but it’s tangible.

 

Our offense just sucks! In modern basketball, being down by 5 points should be quite a fragile lead. But when we are down by such deficit? It feels like we are down by 20. Our offense is slow, predictable, and with no threat from distance, unless it’s a wide-open 3 from the corner. Why did Ime kepr Reed on the bench for the entire 4th? Why only sticking to have your best defenders, when you cannot capitalise any forced TOs or offensive rebounds into points on the other end?!?!
Smh. Please, get rid of Ime!

 

I can't decide what was worse, JVGs or Imes offense. Those were some awful years watching a JVG offense.
