It's too early to say that for sure. Let them get a few more years under their belt and give them a coach that has above a 65 IQ and I think we still have 3 guys in Sengun, Amen, and Reed that could be borderline great players.
Read this loud and clear: Fertitta DOESN’T CARE! His silence speaks spades. He’s busy bringing in a WNBA team and all that entails with his 30 other businesses. He doesn’t even go to Rockets games anymore. Each and every fan on this site cares more than the owner and that’s how you get stuck with a useless lawyer as your GM and no changes whatsoever at the last several trade deadlines. They are playing us for fools!
The problem is that Ime is the Rockets' version of Bill O'Brien. He dominates everything because Stone is a weak GM. Stone has no relevant experience outside of the organization. And most of his experience with the Rockets is as their general counsel. For example, I promise you the general counsel for the Cheesecake Factory doesn't know how to operate a Cheesecake Factory on a day-to-day basis. The Fertittas need to bring in someone with a wealth of basketball experience to evaluate everything.
Ime will be back next year and the same sht will repeat itself. Middling team just good enough to win some games but really a joke to even be consider a real challenge to be the final winner. Even if Ime is gone, I dont trust the top brass peeps to do anything that'll turn this team into a championship level.
You're right if the owners actually gave a **** about winning which doesn't really seem to be the case here. I bet nothing will happen even with a sweep.
You blaming a coach with clear roster issues due to injuries is ridiculous. The Rockets finished 4th a few games behind Denver who currently has the best player in the world. Also a few games away from Minnesota who may also have the best player in the league. Who is our cornerstone, Alperen Sengun?
I don't think they care about winning, but I do think they could be swayed by widespread public humiliation on a national level.
Having roster problems is not an excuse for fundamental incompetence when it comes to running lineups and rotations, it's not an excuse for having no clue when it comes to x's and o's on both sides of the court. You can blame roster problems for a lack of talent, but not a lack of strategy, and talent isn't the problem with the Rockets....it's that they have no coherent strategy on either side of the ball.
Absolute bullshit to blame the players. Put them in a good offense and then we can decide what we have. You can’t pack the f*cking paint for 3 years - diluting the most important shots in all of basketball - and then tell me we didn’t draft anyone great. Do not trade a single guy until we’ve seen them with a competent two way coach. If after that they don’t take a step up, then burn the whole thing up.
Writing so little about Ime Udoka would still be inexcusable......better than nothing like Rocket's attitude all season.
Absolutely, talent can take a team far but they can still be held back by an incompetent coach. Golden State won 51 with Mark Jackson... then they kicked his ass to the curb and immediately won back to back championships and Mark Jackson never worked again.
I dont know how I started watching the Rockets and adopted the Premier League version of the Rockets in Arsenal they literally have the same problem. Lame duck coach that gets elite talent and does **** all with it. Ime and Stone have to go. Bigger issue is Patrick Fertitta running things which is basically like a rich guy giving a sports team to his dog. Absolutely no one respects him on the team, in the city or otherwise. Total "let me know when your dad's available" energy.
