Patrick - Dad, we lost bad tonight vs the Lakers. I need my helicopter to take me to Coachella now.

Tilman - shut up son, I’m at the golden nugget with Vince McMahon and Triple H talking Wrestlemania business. Selling Landry’s chicken.

the other team was also missing their top 2 players and their roster was in theory weaker than us.

The game is a fair evaluation for a lot of issues with this team.
GM, coach and players are below the level they are supposed to be according to the goals we set for the season.

If you asked any player or GM whether they want to have KD, Adams, and FVV or Luka and Reaves, they would laugh at you for asking a question so stupid it doesnt deserve an answer.

I'd trade Sengun, Amen, DFS, and two 1sts for Giannis:

    PG: VanVleet / Sheppard
SG: MLE FA / 2nd round pick
    SF: Durant / Smith, Jr.
    PF: Antetokounmpo / Eason
    C: Adams / Capela

The MLE FA could be Rui Hachimura, Ayo Dosunmu, Quentin Grimes - there would be plenty of guys lining up to start on a team with KD and Giannis.

You're never going to be able to build a championship-level offense with Amen as a wing, and you'll never build a championship-level defense with Sengun as your center. Need to cash in those chips.

To me Giannis is not the answer, you can trade for other players with signing Eason, and package him with others FVV, DFS comes to mind
. Your basicly scraping the rebuild there once Durant leaves, and then you got a broke down giannis and looks like a worse bucks team, you talking about tanking there after KD retires.

I think tbh, people jump the gun on this team and forget how this unit(I've seen it too) Reed Eason, amen, Jabari Sengun can go on a rampage offensively
and defensively, you just don't throw this away.

The draft was successful, they need to find a #1. Mitchell could be had next summer, and role 1 more time. But I'm curious to see what they do with some of the roster money or trade in 2026, when Adams and FVV come back.

They just need to mix and match some personnel, and maybe get a new coach after next year if it doesn't work out with Adams
    and FVV back.

I don't want Giannis, but he wouldn't cost more than Sengun as the principle.

This would be a horrible trade. Giannis, given his age and injury history and down performance this year, isn't worth anywhere near two young fringe all-stars + two FRPs. I'd peg his value at about what we paid for KD in the offseason, I think he is in roughly the same stage of his career as Durant is. (Guys who rely heavily on athleticism and physicality tend to decline much faster than skill players.)

I don't necessarily reflexively oppose the idea of trading Sengun, or perhaps even Amen depending on the return, but not for Giannis please. Donovan Mitchell is a guy I'd consider if he becomes available. Sign-and-trade for Austin Reaves, I wouldn't be as excited about, but I don't absolutely hate the idea, at least he's only 27 and we've never seen what he can do as more than the 3rd option, so there's a chance of a Brunson-like rise from him. Talk to Boston about one of the Jays? (They probably hang up the phone immediately.)

Can we at least agree that veteran star chasing isn’t gonna save this team when there’s no foundation? But then again, maybe it’s best to let this thing run its course. Spend all the assets to spectacularly crash and burn, and then you get the inevitable cleaning of house and we start over, this time with actual basketball people in the front office?

This season has put a major microscope on how flawed this whole organization is and a lot of the other teams this team was tanking with have left them in the dust (Thunder, Pistons, Spurs, etc.) As this season has gone along I've checked out on this team, barely glanced at the TV while the game was going on last night, etc. Even with KD I wouldn't be shocked at all if the depleted Lakers beat them. I'm out on all the sports teams in town though. I feel all of them are flawed from the top down. It's just a down time in Houston sports right now unfortunately.

Sorry boys. Bored on a Sunday. Hornets probably have the most picks to trade for or willing to trade

    IMG_5392.png

Trade FVV + PHX27’ for Dejounte Murray
Trade DFS + 1st for Ty Jerome

    Murray / Jerome / Mann
    Amen / Reed / Jerome
    KD / Tari / Williams(39% 3pt)
    Jabari / Williams / Saluan
    Capella / Jabari? / Adams

Pray on the Nets27’ and start working on finding future Center

Any move comes with risk, and if you don't like the odds with Giannis then that's a valid take.

But Amen is not a fringe all-star. He has a glaring weakness and it only got worse this season - he shot a lower percentage on 2s and 3s versus last year. His value is declining around the league and will only get worse if you extend him. If anything, I bet it would take Sengun, Amen, and 3 FRPs to get Giannis.

The Hornets might be a good target for a trade, but the players they'd want from us would probably be like Amen or maybe Jabari or Tari, moreso than Sengun? Maybe even Adams or Capela. They are not really lacking in offensive firepower. They're looking for defense and rebounding and the grit and grind stuff the rest of our roster does relatively well. I don't know if I'd want to trade Amen just for draft capital though, I would either want a superstar or a guy I thought had a better chance than Amen of becoming one (there are very few of those and they're generally untouchable).

I wouldn’t make this trade with Amen. I was just thinking of new homes for Sengun other than a gutting of the team Giannis trade. Just had a Hornet fan tell me they’d rather trade for a defensive center so Sengun trade targets might be cooked lol if they don’t even want him

    bleaker outlook:
Astros: older, expensive, injured roster, worst farm system in baseball
Rockets: no core, probably riding out Ime ball another 2 years minimum

    Both need to

I love the Astros and to me they’re far and away in a worse spot. Takes years to develop young talent before they even make your roster…and we are old and among the worst teams in the league.

I don’t think it is about blowing it up. after this year I just feel like we have more clarity what to build around than ever.

I really believe in Thompson and I think the same about Shepherd. Smith jr fits well with those guys and Eason will as well at about the same price as Smith.

nothing is changing with the top two or three dominant teams in the league, but we remain perched right outside of that.

FVV and even DFS remain players that could potentially have a positive impact next year or bet traded. Adams had such a positive impact when he was around I would say hang onto him. Offload Sengun, Capela and I would try to keep Okogie.

    New Center that can shoot/Adams
    Smith
    Eason
    Durant/Okogie
    Amen/Reed

Build out around Amen and the potential of Reed. I would even think about trying to get Smith to gain 10 to 20 pounds and using him at center.

I know that many people disagree but I do think Thompson will be a top 10 player over the next two or three years. He definitely needs space.

I’ve been beating this drum for a while. I maintain that we should reconsider our current approach and do a sober evaluation of our personnel this offseason. We are not contending in the near future so can we do the pragmatic thing and recoup some value for KD while we still can? Next can we prioritize finding a franchise player? That means evaluating the players we have and making virtually everyone and our picks available for a young franchise player. That includes potentially getting back into the draft and taking some swings. I’d keep Amen but it’s time to find our franchise guy. Let’s reset the timeline. If folks look at things objectively, this is the only way to get to sustainable contention for the long term. The current approach is not gonna get us there…nor will Giannis on the back end of his career.

We have literally no one to build around. Sengun, Amen, Jabari, Reed all have major flaws that will probably never get fixed.

Amen can’t shoot, Jabari can’t dribble, Reed can’t defend, Sengun can’t do anything right.

i vote for blowing it up until we get a franchise player in the draft.
