That has to be a joke right? Reed is a vastly superior basketball player to Jalen Green, smarter, better passer, better shooter, just much much better. And we aren't paying Reed 30m a year to show up every 3rd game. Reed does just as good against good competition as bad - and he is only 21, still developing.....if he stops and stagnates, then it will be time to move him, but he is just a much more winning oriented basketball player than Green. Put it this way, Reed is smart - Jalen is not. Green isn't worth the 2nd pick......wish him well, but not against us. DD
I KNOW RIGHT! And in 2more yrs, people will be saying Jalen has had 6yrs of experience and Reed has 4yrs....Jalen can't win these arguments.
Reed just can't get PT. Lol My coach use to tell us, you think I'll put Michael Jordan on the bench?? If Reed was as good as some fans make him out to be; high IQ, great shooter, and great passer....he would not be coming off the bench!
You can say that about everything then. I don't know how can anyone use both Jalen and Reed good games vs GSW as an argument for anything. The comparison of Jalen and Reed itself is strange, because they are wildly different players, and they got on wildly different teams and coaching when they came to the Rockets. At the end, only one of them is on our team, and we should care and root for him.
They are different players and different things are asked of them. One is and has always been a starter, playing against starting competition and the other is a bench player, who plays against against similar competition.....ITS A VAST DIFFERENCE Fans want Reed to start, want him to play more but he's not that player. Jalen has started under three coaches and if you like them or disagree with them, they all chose him to start and to be a first or second option.
Reed comes off the bench because Ime believes he gives up more points than he scores and since offensively he relies heavily on his 3pt shooting when those shots aren't falling he becomes a total burden. He's not entirely wrong but that doesn't justify overlooking your players' skill set when the moment demands it.
... and even if we did that comparison, it wouldn't help their boyfriend Green. Reed Sheppard is CURRENTLY, after one season worth of playing time, better than Jalen Green after 5 seasons of being catered to and handed everything.
Suns record without Green this year: 28-22 Suns record with Green this year: 17-15 Green is an average starting Sg in the league, a below average playoff SG. It's who he is and who he has always been. As usual, when he gets hot he looks great. That happens about once every 15 games or so.
To me, coaches see players everyday, we see them only during the games. And Reed came off the bench in college and he's coming off the bench now, so both Calipari and Ime can not be wrong.
Are we really doing the thing all over again where we ignore how terrible Jalen was all year and freak out over one single game? Didn't we learn not to let ourselves get fooled by this after 4 years in Houston? We're just doing it all over again?
Mac McClung s better. If you trade them out Mac McClung would be surrounded by defenders covering up most of his flaws while Reed would be in the G league.
I think you quoted the wrong person. I said reeds IQ, process, passing is way better. Even on nights where he can’t hit a three his 3 times the playmaker of jalen
This is the PERFECT EXAMPLE of what I mean! Fans who do not understand basketball! As simple as it is, its difficult for some to grasp. This is why Calipari and Ime had/has Reed coming off the bench, yet fans keep clamoring for him to start. Now @Bobbythegreat is showing a clear depiction of Reed and Jalen stats in comparison and based upon these stats, the avg fan, which he is, paints a picture of why he thinks Reed should start or in his mind, why he thinks Reed is better than Jalen. However, what it doesn't show is who those numbers are against. Jalen has always been a first or second option. Playing against the opposition's best defenders since he came into the league.....meanwhile, when Reed starts, he is always the last option. Which means he is playing against lesser defenders. Thats a huge difference! Here's an example, the last game against Minnesota, who is a quality opponent. Reed was being guarded by 38yr old Mike Conley and Reed was 5-12, 2-6 from 3pt and a -17. While Conley, who was being guarded by Reed was 3-3, 3-3 on 3pts and GET THIS A +17! Second, which player can get their own shot? Seems like an easy task but Reed when pressed, has shown he can not get past his defender and he picks up his dribble. You can not be looked upon as a STARTING guard in the NBA and can not get past your defender. We all know Jalen can, that's why they put better defenders on him. Lastly, DEFENSE! DEFENSE! DEFENSE! NBA coaches want players to play defense. JG has improved on that end, Reed is currently a cone. We can't compare them because the difference is immense. This is why when an avg fan look at numbers and ASSUME they are more knowledgeable than most....it can be dangerous
Rockets are probably one of five teams that have a Sengun type Center.....but the Embiid, Jokic types can shoot 3's to open up the floor for his teammates. Jalen Green, KPj, Fred VanVleet all struggled against Sengun defender camping out in the paint defensively. Those days of inconsistency were a good shot blocker on the court ignoring Sengun and focused on not allowing Green to get a dunk. As in NBA2K that ignites the crowd and teammates. Suns are ok with him shooting mid-range shots while the Rockets are notorious for discouraging the players shooting them. Just different systems, styles, coaches, teammates....these old fart Warriors would have found a way to beat the Rockets....they always do. Steph Curry would have taken advantage of slow-poke Sengun. Suns went to Small Ball for a stretch with Royce Oneal as center. Silas and Udoka won't pull Sengun and try that. Cry baby Sengun fans would riot.
Thats all fine, I don't even want to argue any that. I'm talking about on the suns, he has been really bad all year. We don't need to talk about Houston or Ime or Sengun. Just look at this year in Phoenix, he has been extremely bad. Worse than he was in Houston. And the team was better without him, you can look at their record in games where he played vs games where he sat. They were a .500 team when he played.
