Try googling (or whatever search engine you use) - most secular countries in the world, and then in a separate search - least corrupt countries in the world. Nordic countries are at the top of most indexes for both of those categories.

That's not even getting to the opposite side of the spectrum. Do you know how religious places like Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela are?

The void of belief in a god does not singularly explain corruption. The belief in god does not explain a void of corruption. Not by a mile, from my observations.

I believe this is political fan fiction. Louisiana and Mississippi are both amongst the most religious and most corrupt states. Places like Utah and New Hampshire are on opposite ends of secularism in the US, and I think both probably have amongst the lowest levels of corruption.

 

Countries like Japan and Singapore are well ran so it’s not just white excellence IMO.

Yes, states with higher black populations are more corrupt in America. If you think about it, a society owning slaves in itself was a extremely corrupt thing, if you look at South America (where many indigenous people were enslaved and exploited), arguably the most corrupt nations in the world given the infrastructure and natural resources they have had.

There could be something here about the historic mentality and governance style of recent slave owning regions naturally leading to modern disfunction and corruption. When leaders are okay with and are used to division and exploiting what they see as sub classes of people to benefit and enrich themselves from, you might have a very strong foundation for corruption.

Utah, NH for example never had slavery, perhaps they have historically viewed their neighbor as of equal value and as people to build with rather than people to conquer and divide from. (After killing and expelling the natives, of course)
