It was a great start for Arrighetti. The big step for him is becoming consistent. We’ve been teased by Spencer before. 1 start at a time. Let’s see how he does next time out.
His max speed this year is barely at his average from last year: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/bryan-abreu-650556?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb That’s a big drop. I agree control has always been an issue, but the control and amount of barrels are not just a little worse. Maybe it’s mental, but that kind of drop off in speed and control both means there has to be some sort of physical aspect (even if it’s mind causing it).
Yeah, I’d be more excited if it wasn’t against the Rockies and he didn’t walk 4 and hit 2 others. We know he has good stuff - the walks and hitting guys has always been the concern.
They claim it’s mechanical issues, which would make sense. Perhaps it was mechanical issues to start, his control was all over the place, and now he’s been aiming the ball trying to throw strikes.
Those numbers equal equal WAR. Interesting. They clearly FORCED Ohtani in the #1 spot. Walker and Pages are having hot starts after career-750 OPS -- they make the list. Ohtani, 300+ points behind Yordan gets #1. They used "hot start" when they wanted, then went "career" next second. Stay healthy #2.
