It was funny though watching those two standing behind Trump at press conferences and trying to keep from gagging as he passed gas and pooped himself so many times.

 

Some fun facts:

During Trump’s first term, when he pulled out of the JCPOA, the US also sanctioned Iranian oil. Exports dropped from ~2.5m barrels/day to ~0.3m barrels/day, a roughly 90% drop. That lasted ~1 year before Iran "built" up a “shadow fleet” and redirected more oil to China.

Before the war, Iran exported ~1.7m barrels/day, ~90% of which went to China. China was importing ~1.5m barrels/day from Iran, out of ~11m barrels/day total imports. That means Iran made up ~14% of China’s total oil imports.

The US blockade only applies to ships entering or exiting Iranian ports.

It seems Iran will be able to tolerate this pressure for at least several months. China does not appear to be especially desperate to resume Iranian oil imports, assuming Iran does not attempt to block oil exports from other countries to China, which it will not.

This appears to be ineffective leverage and a losing proposition for the US and the global economy.
