6-9 is pretty rough again Smith at 5 is actually rough too walker at 4 is also problematic 4-9 is pretty rough again
Altuve has not had a day off yet. And either a LHSP, Matthews was needed in the OF. I don't have any issue with starting Allen specifically to give Altuve a day off. If Nick starts more than 1 game every 7-10 games, then I have a problem.
I worry about Walker in cleanup spot. I would actually prefer Cam in cleanup spot and Walker 5th protecting him.
OMG WHY???? WHY THIS ****ING NICK ALLEN GUY. There are about 200 minor league players, probably more honestly, that I’d rather have out there than him. There are some kids on the local high school team I would rather have out there. Serious question, how does a player with a career OPS+ of 54 get regular playing time on an MLB team. It’s unbelievable.
Because his defense is good enough that he still has positive WAR even with that bat. If Altuve is the 2B then Allen is a valuable player on this team. But I don't want him to start more than 2-3 games per month. This team leads MLB in runs scored. Covering for Allen's bat is not the problem.
80% of Allen’s playing time needs to come as a late game defensive replacement or pinch runner. He should not be in the starting lineup more than once every other week. He can’t hit. Putting him in the lineup when both Diaz and Matthews are playing (and when Loperfido is in against a LHP) is just really really stupid.
SEVEN runs yesterday... today 5+ incoming Arrighetti begins solidifying the rotation. All signs point to W
We need footage of the Braves GM and staff on the phone around their conference table while Dana was suggesting Dubon for Nick Allen. Probably something like Leo teaching everyone how to sell in Wolf of Wall Street
I would've had Matthews at 2B and play Whitcomb at LF instead of having Allen in the starting lineup. Didn't Dana say awhile ago that Whitcomb is better suited as an outfielder?
Matthews has got to be getting close to getting sent down. He is not making contact and losing playing time to Loperfido and Trammell. I hope he does something soon.
Players are going to get rest - this was always how it was going to be if someone got injured. They aren't going to compound Pena's injury by working everyone harder and creating another injury. It still fascinates me how many people wanted this to be Plan A if we had traded away Paredes or Walker. Nick Allen would have been starting regularly even when everyone was healthy for people's rest days. This is also why we'll miss Dubon - even last year's version of him.
