There is so many things coach/manager needs (allthough lot comes these days from FO as order) and only thing for me that Joe has is that positivity and skill to get up and reboot for next game after terrible losses. It brings with it that Joe just reboots and keeps doing same s**t with positivity and expecting different results. I know Im just talking to myself and you have me only as "Joe hater numbnuts" but if you would do imaginary game like: 1. Every team gets same 13 BP arms and with same level skill/stuff same usage b4 and force manager to use 6-7 arms every game. Leave them to assess data given from FO and planned usage lanes, matchups, all that. Let them decide by themselves on how game is going, don't go as planned, reacting to pinchitting, when to hook/extend stay on mound. Let all managers do that for 162 in fantasyland and you all know that Joe finishes at bottom 3 if not worst. 2. If you say managers don't matter and are kinda just (cheer)leaders where is the skill to keep players hungry, fired up and motivated? Winning brings complacency and roster getting thinner Joe should be burning for keeping up guys lust to win and improve. It seems that he is not even able to get players interested in their own future bag. 3. Lack of demand and accountability. In this team you can do dumb s**t all year long without getting benched or reprimanded. It's like any relationship, if you don't set some rules in the beginning other people will always walk over you. 4. We seem to not be able to react or change anything. Lot of it is for the above mentioned earlier things. If shift gets banned and all data on D screams red Joe tells that just need to better. If other teams steal 1000 bases from us Joe keeps telling us the whole time that we need to improve that. If some players have no sense of zone we let them use ABS freely forever and say geeze that was close call have to improve on those. But he don't have that respect, authority and bal*s of leader that he would/could demand something from players. I am not saying he needs to be throwing players under the bus but community needs rules and accountability. Worst and fastest way to kill team is let it slide on everything. The dudes/dudettes who wants to work hard and do things the right way get annoyed by both the rulebraker and the impotent leader. Result is the good wood quits doing right things saying to themselves why bother in this freaking daycare circus. Fixing things. Leadership. Planning. Demanding. Firing people up and motivating. Seeing whatsup and reacting. It's the whole package of Joe. Before ABS did't even know when to fight for our battery with b*tching and getting tossed so umps had freedom to fk us over and over. It's not that I don't like Joe. I just would prefer him not managing Astros.
Watching the Astros this season is like watching your favorite NFL team play prevent defense all game long.....you just know the opponent is a moment away from an easy 7 spot.
It was 2010. The defense would be okay at times but they were absolutely awful, awful late in games. 2011 was the best defense in Texans history until last year.
Arrighetti helping this staff and team is an exciting proposition. We shall see... starting today. Body. Ready.
It’s like watching the Cowboys play this past season. Getting lit up by Russell Wilson, JJ McCarthy, etc. There’s not a lineup in baseball right now that I’d be comfortable in saying our staff could shut them down.
I feel like this has to be what A's fans experienced last year. Good offense with absolute bottom tier pitching and defense. Hopefully it is just a small sample size for us.
So glad Sleepy Joe found a way to get Nick Allen into the game tonight. Cut him Dana or we are going to be getting 2 for 20 lines from him each week
