Record '24 -- 6-11 --> 6-12 '26 -- 6-11 --> 7-11 '24 -- 6-14 --> 7-19 --> 12-24 Astros are set up much better strictly record-wise than '24, a playoff team. Arrighetti returns tomorrow or Thursday. 2024 squad finished 11th in runs, 6th in ERA. This year's offense has the talent to maintain top 10, prob closer to 5. The pitching is in hole. Treat them like '23 Jabreu... "SINCE" stats. Since he/they stop completely sucking..... Top 10-15 is possible.
Good perspective. The streak is what has made this situation seem so dire. If the Astros had spread out their losses, like going from 1-2 to 3-6 to 5-9 to 6-11 I don’t think we’d all be as panicked. Regardless, the best time to start digging out of the hole is right now. If Houston rips off 5 or 6 straight wins they’ll be right where they need to be. All that said, I believe pretty firmly that if Hunter Brown is out past mid June, this season is already over for the Astros.
Maybe without Hunter due to other injuries -- Abreu too -- the Astros see their demise but the pitching will settle down. Arrighetti is on deck and a couple surprises will emerge. Sousa and Hader will return. Whether Hunter returns June or July, Astros will be competitive. Offense needs to stay slugging and healthy.
