Carlos Lee is pretty much the only player he could be referring to. Martinez came up on a roster that had been completely torn down. Pence and Bourn were on the team in his first season but they were traded before he came up. Carlos Lee is the only established veteran who was around.
Framber imploded for 8 runs in 5 innings. It only took one game to inflate his ERA to 4.76 on the season. Good to know that some things don't change. But to be honest. I'd take a loss every 3 games from a SP right now (.667 winning percentage), just not at his price tag.
Brad Lidge is now an archaeologist studying the Etruscan civilization. The Etruscans inhabited what is now central Italy from 800 BC to 100 BC.
Carlos Lee was all about Carlos Lee. When he was younger with the White Sox he was generally liked and considered a good guy. Once he got established and money, all he cared about was his farm - his personal comfort and his numbers. He was not a guy that really cared about the game or other players. He would have hit 500 homers if he had just average interest and fitness.
Was his defense always this bad as now? He was always overrated on D but did it get worse by playing with Cubs and stopping going to wall at all with that hard wall in Chigago? I know he's allergic to sprinting but today's game v Mets he was going super slow for like 20 yards chasing pretty soft liner glove out reaching the whole way. Did't even get close to ball and there was still 20 yards to wall. Groundrule double and Ohtani stared from the mound like 10 seconds with "wtf dude" face. That 60m a season is insane but Dodgers prob calculated Tucker has like 5 seasons in him with natural ability to hit without putting much effort on fitness or getting better on defense. With 10y/350m they would have been locked in terrible deal for the last 5y of the deal so chasing WS just now with unlimited money why not just pay whatever for short contract and let him retire after that leaving Dodgers free to overpay someone else later.
