Nah man, Ime is a great defensive coach. He just needs 5 defensive forwards in at all times to prove it
Because he is a ball hog, he doesn't play defense, he is 37 years old, we are building a team and he is frankly in the way of that development. His timeline is not the Rockets timeline - he would be best on a team more mature, and we would be too. In addition he is in the way of some of the young guys developing that leadership mentality. KD is just not a good fit, if he were more of a Lebron this year, type of guy, then sure, but he still wants to be the guy, and he isn't good enough anymore. DD
DFS was signed using the non taxpayer MLE. Atlanta acquired NAW in a sign and trade at a 19% higher salary than DFS. How we would have acquired him? Keep in mind that Atlanta had cap space and Minnesota is a 2nd apron team, so they could complete the sign and trade without any salary going back to Minnesota. We were above the cap and could not do that.
It has been pointed out that it was possible that the Rockets could have offered NAW a full 4-year NT-MLE for barely more than the deal NAW got from Atlanta. Granted, NAW would likely have still chosen the Atlanta offer as money today is worth getting slightly more money 4 years from now (i.e., the numbers are basically the same if one ignores inflation, but time value of the money still favors Atlanta). Also, DFS is not guaranteed for 4 years, and not sure the Rockets wanted to sign NAW for 4 years when that money may be earmarked for Amen or Reed those last 2 seasons.
People really need to get over it.... And then folks would be still complaining about NAW taking Reed's minutes. As @Joe Joe mentioned, even if we did sign NAW it would have been guaranteed longer. I don't think people realize DFS is really a 2 year deal.
If I were in NAW's shoes I would have taken the Atlanta offer over the NT-MLE from us. Not just for the higher upfront salary, but guaranteed starting spot and expanded opportunities. He gets to shoot the ball 15 times a game over there, he would not get that much usage either here or in Minnesota. Also, we are hard capped at the 1st apron so offering the full four year MLE would have been difficult.
63% TS and he is not good enough? Who else would take those shots? KD only has 30% utilization rate, thats why his average is only 26 despite being so efficient. If he was a ball hog he would be averaging prime Harden nos easily. Doesnt play defense? I guess thats why at 37 he is top 4 defensive FG% for the season. But hey, dont let facts get in the way of what you see on the court. That couple of times KD bricked the shot shows how ineffective he is amirite? This post and every body who has liked this just shows who have limited understanding in bball.
There is no more building once they traded for KD. There is no more young team once they made the trade and we see the Spurs and Thunder. They need to get in that window quickly for the next 3 yrs. Had they drafted a superstar or even a 2nd team all nba type, I would be with you, but they didn't. There are only a couple players I wouldn't trade and KD is one of them. They should've lessened his load vs increasing it.
Well he was double teamed all night long, same for Alpi in the paint, we had guys wide open in the corners this was a game we should have gotten a lot of open corner 3s..... DD
Reed is like my rookie season in MyCareer mode in 2K. My ratings are low, but the coach trusts me unconditionally, so I shoot like crazy and somehow manage to make a few.
Reed needs to develop some kind of consistent niche bag like TJ McConnell. Just being a 6'1 3pt specialist/defensive liability not gonna cut it.
he’s always out of position on defense or reaching/gambling for steals, and he chucks up a lot of bad shots but he somehow has the label of a player with “high BBIQ”
The studio crew nailed it last night. The Rockets don’t run plays. It’s all iso ball and they all have a green light. 70% of Reed’s problem is lack of system and in year two he’s system dependent.
