I don't think this man can save the Texans. If he's given more than a year to work, folks are gonna paint the org as racist or something like that. Black coaches r given only a year with a sht team while this man is given more. Whatever the Texans do the optics are so awful right now. Hiring two token coaches and firing dem one year in twice with a discrimination lawsuit pending will do that to u.
Pffft. U can't put it pass this sht org. I don't recall culley ever being on the interview list either, man literally appeared out of nowhere that coincide with the Flores lawsuit
Now this is just pushing the narrative… the Flores lawsuit was the next year, the Lovie hiring. Still obviously bad optics, but the Culley hiring can be stupid on its own, you gotta make sure there are those reasons as well?
Yes u are correct, the lawsuit was after the hiring. I guess for culley it could just b incompetence or a lackey that Easterby could push around
I don't think Davis Mills is as bad as people say he is, are you going to win the Super Bowl with him? no, but he could make a really good backup. Long term he will make way too many mistakes to overlook, but he could save your season during a there or four-game injury to the starter
I agree with this. Too soon to write him off and if we don't take a QB in the draft, I'd love to see how he responds in the Shanahan system this year.
David Mills can definitely run the offense. Sure it doesn’t seem he has the “it” factor, but he is more than capable of running the offense like the coaches draw it up.
IMO he is a great back up who can fill in a game or two, were pretty lucky to have him. Is he an NFL starting QB, IMO No, but he`s good for us
He won the only 3 games he started last yr, he's a high end backup QB. Not many backup QB's can do this. I wish he had gotten to start the 2nd half against the Pats.
They should normalize that with QB's. Reasons? All the other major sports adjusts its slumping players approach, or takes them out in-game. Future Hall of Famers on down. The Texans were rotating O-lineman last year, a group that actually needs continuity. So why is a QB exempt from a brief subbing? Because it appears they're weak and demoted out being "the franchise leader? But did taking out prime Justin Verlander in a game that's he's getting absolutely hammered, "weaken"' his credibility? To me subbing out CJ that game woulda been BOTH the practical old school "sit this out, boy", AND the Gen Z just the humane hing to do.
They were more worried about doing further damage to his confidence level than actually winning that game. Honestly, they should have stopped the bleeding after the 3rd interception, and yanked him out. Even after CJ threw 4 interceptions in the first half they left him in. Talk about utter BS QB coddling, it doesn't get much worse. Babying your QB to protect his ego is ridiculous, especially in the playoffs. It was disgusting to watch. Dude was sulking on the sidelines. Mills should have come in the 2nd half. It was a win or out situation.
