And that is with a coach who knows nothing about offense. Ime's defensive acumen seems to be going downhill too.

Pretty high standards for the Houston Pelicans.

“People here think they’re smart just because they criticize. But when it comes to finding a replacement, they’ve got nothing. Even if a guy puts up 30/14/8, they’ll whine about 5 turnovers. Okay then — if he’s that bad, who would you trade him for? If you don’t have an answer, your criticism is just plain stupidity.”

You forgot he’s supposed to be blocking shots like Mutombo, and don’t forget — he should be scrapping and playing tough like Rodman as well. :)

Anything less than Hakeem level defense with Jokic level offense is an absolute and total failure.

What about that 2nd half stretch when he was basically 16 pts and 8 rebounds?

Selective stretch of games while hurt. That's why you play all 82 to get the full picture.

Average NBA center gets you something like 9 or 10 points and 5 or 6 rebounds, so I'd say that's pretty good for a guy who's in a slump and probably playing through injury.

Sengun's problem has never been his ability to rack up points or rebounds, it's his efficiency, defense, and floor spacing. He has to either get better at the things he's bad at, or find a way to adjust so that they're less a problem. Regardless, he's a very good player, there are just growing questions whether he'll ever been good enough to be the best player on a contending team.

how’s he suppose to get better as a floor spacer if he shoots a wide open three and gets benched and yelled at by his coach….

I think in that instance it wasn’t about shooting a 3, it’s about doing that at that point in the game when he was cooking in the paint. It wasn’t the best decision in that context. But still didn’t warrant the reaction at all.

He was still rolling around with the icepacks on the back during the Wolves game. Three seasons in a row it creeps back. Equipment manager should design a light weight tanktop with some padding on the lower back like what some wear under their shorts .
The last game, Kyle Anderson, who should have been a deadline pick up, clobbered him on that spin move. No call of course.

Starting the pre season I had him averaging 25 pts on 17 FGs attempted w/ 7+ assists, which is right around Superstar level but not quite face of the league player yet.

How I saw it happening: 2 more FGA=2 pts. 2 more FTA combined with a 75% overall from the line that's 1.4 pts and hitting average on offensive put backs=1pt.(average around the league is 60%, our bigs still awful at it, all of them)

But his hesitation to even back down with authority during the ankle-back injuries really deterred refs from making those calls in the future. And he hasn't improved at the line. Amen is already at 78%. Another poster said it in a game thread, he doesn't use his legs.

Improvements: Wanted him to learn from Baby Sabonis, Draymond and Adams on how to set a legal illegal screen going backwards, I call it the Crab Screen. He has done that. Still gets some offensive calls on it, but it's getting better. Opens a wide open lane for Amen or Jabari sometimes.

Should Have 4 game winning buckets with 1 screw up that the haters cried about. But that's what you want from your guy, not afraid to fail.
