As a reminder, the Epstein files have almost exclusively implicated Democrats and have completely exonerated Trump... with the victims calling Trump their "hero" for blowing the whistle on Epstein.

So your logic of Republicans attempting to distract from the Epstein files is absurd. Epstein was a central connector of the Deep State to media, academia, Israel, the Rothschilds, and more. He hated Trump because Trump vowed to demolish the Deep State and return America to rule by democracy. Not rule by the global elites and unelected bureaucrats -- which is what the Democrats fight for.

Only one important difference in the left and right column for MAGA and it doesn't involve any numbers, I'm afraid.

Catholics aren't really his base. Evangelical christians are. And they tend to be prickly about the Pope anyway.

I think Trump is the one who FAFOed.

Blocking Iranian oil and food shipments might give us a little leverage. But it will also raise oil prices. So the question is whether Trump (not America) has a greater tolerance for pain than Iran does.

I think there is more to it than a diversion from the Epstein files. But, Commodore's article does seem to be an attempt to move the goalposts to help MAGA faithful deal with the cognitive dissonance of voting for a guy who promised he wouldn't get entangled in foreign adventures, and then got himself into the most intractable foreign adventure of all. This writer can put a glossy intellectual sheen on this disaster, but it won't change the fact that Trump promised no wars and then brought wars, promised low energy prices and brought high energy prices, and promised a booming economy and delivered an economy that feels moribund and on the verge of faltering.

Donald Trump really is the quintessential American Boomer.

Born on third base and thinks he hit a triple. Failed upward his entire life.

Total emotional dysregulation, probably from lead exposure.

A fat dumb slob yet also remarkably vain and arrogant.

The man is that generation given form.

For the non-catholics here, I think it's important to note that there are essentially two Catholic followings. One is a more traditional one which would take into consideration what the Pope and the Vatican are doing, and have Homilies (Speech mid Mass that the priest gives) that are shorter, and less opinionate/political.

Then there are what I would almost consider Southern Catholics which carry very extreme right wing views, and carry very political stances during their Homilies. I've sat during a Homily one time at one of these churches where the priest went on a 15 minute diatribe bashing Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer. It's was INSANELY political. I sat through another at another church where the priest LITERALLY sympathized with the Oathkeepers, and Proud Boys, and took aim at the media and Democrats labeling people who are just more passionate about causes as "Extremists.".... Yeah.

For us Texans, many of us know that stretch of Texas in between Houston and San Antonio which is populated but a slew of small German towns. Each town has it's own Catholic Church (you can look up the "painted churches" to see sort of the history there) and the Catholic Church is central to everything that happens socially and is core to the community organizing of a big chunk of Texas.

The Catholic Church in this region of Texas is almost an arm of the Trump campaign in many ways. While the Diocese is still instructed from a top down approach that is still connected to the church, the Bishops that get assigned down are in for a rude awakening if they dare broach controversial topics, and don't blend in with the community. I've seen priests last VERY short periods when they are questioned for not being pro Trump if they touch a topic that seems anti-Trump in their Homily.

    ....

So I say all of that so the non-Catholics here really understand that Trump speaking out against the Pope is not going to change one Catholic follower that doesn't already love Trump and revile the Pope. There is already a cold Civil War in the church, and many of the priests I've heard speak during their Homilees would almost surely back Trump over the Pope even though they have sworn their lives to the Catholic Church.

And yes.... Trump's attack of the Pope will be something that actually excites Evangelical Christians. My mom who is like the Evangelical of all Evangelicals about disowned me when I told her that my now wife is Catholic, and our kids will likely be baptized in the Catholic church. Evangelical's believe Catholics are fake Christians, and they believe they place a woman above Jesus... which putting a woman above a man is as you all know the ultimate betrayal.

Trump is dominating Iran — loving it! I’m laughing at the fools who repeated Iran’s propaganda — they’ve been totally proven wrong.

This is what I've been asking for since day 1.

If we're the biggest swinging dick on earth, and this is war, why the **** aren't we in control of this critical energy terminal?

Parading our navy through it is one thing, but what really matters is whether the oil tankers and their insurers are willing to follow us.

Until tankers are freely traversing the Strait we can't even start to talk about what "winning" looks like.

    DonnyMoist,
We are in agreement. And we will control the Strait of Hormuz. We already control Venezuelan oil. And we already are the largest global producer of oil. Trump has conquered the energy problem that plagued our world for 50 years -- and Americans will reap the benefits.
