If they'd gotten close to a deal, I could see connecting the dots and blaming Israel, but both sides entered with VASTLY different opinions about who held the leverage and so neither side was remotely interested in the other side's "deal".

They can do 30 times leverage without worrying about ever losing since they will be right 99% of the time. So they can multiply their wealth 30+ times relatively easily without needing to be clever or creative, just by placing regular bets. So if he stashed a billion with Ivanka, that’s probably $30bn now sitting in Ivanka’s various friends accounts/businesses - which will return to Trump once his term is up. It’s very easy to evade US insider trading regulations, there’s practically a template.

I'm not sure why we wanted a cease-fire in the first place. Well, beyond making insider deals, I guess. The administration clearly doesn't want this conflict to end. Perhaps the thinking is that the voters will rally to a war-time president and his party? And really, who could fault them for thinking that? After all, you often get unpopular things from the GOP who turn on their media system and repeat how wonderful things are over and over, which leads to a 2-week turnaround in support from the base. But that media system is cracking and the war is so badly justified and executed that wishful thinking and propaganda is not going to make the difference this time--and any ground actions will not help. We'll see if they can squeeze the $1.5 trillion defense budget through before the Congress changes and/or gas is closer to $10 than $1.
