Sheppard struggled in his rookie season. Had an underwhelming summer league and pre season but yet they still played him on a team built to win now.

I said it before that they are developing him by playing him. Stone and the coaching staff said they planned to play him while wanting to see growth. It’s a combination of high demand and development at the same time.

Garrett jackson said in the offseason: “I want him to be aggressive, I want to see just more growth as a point guard.”

Stone said: “I mean Reed is just going to have to be really good for us,” “Period.”

I liken Sheppard’s situation to OKC’s Ajay Mitchell who was a rookie last year on a stacked OKC team built to win now. He didn’t get consistent playing time or starts but saw a bump in year 2 and possible spot in the playoff rotation.

Developmental to me means an inexperienced player that still has several deficiencies but is showing growth and being groomed and developed by the team for a bigger role. In Sheppard’s case he was thrust into that role for several reasons (salary cap, he’s a lottery pick, fred injury). I think the Rockets wanted to accelerate his growth giving him major minutes and demanding results. They assumed the risk and he’s had big moments and some inconsistencies so that’s where we are

 

it’s not just defense. Its throwing a lazy lateral pass to the wing all the way across the other wing and getting picked off or a bad entry pass to the post. But yes the defense is the most concerning thing

 

well you haven’t been reading enough of my posts then. I can say the same with 4-5 guys consistently biased for Reed Sheppard no matter how poorly he plays then go on and trash the coach and yelling foul play and sabatoge and how the coach hates Sheppard with zero evidence and nothing but anger and emotion

Please don't pardon Udoka the next time he benches Reed for a mistake while, say, Eason is allowed to shoot 2 for 14 and stay on the floor.

What i find ludicrous is all the yelling and screaming about him being unfairly treated and hated and sabotaged. You know how crazy that sounds? There is no reality this might happen, your only big Bench Offense if Reed does not start,
are Tari (who is inconsistent and layup failure) and Reed's Shooting.

There is literally no Offense of the bench......and I don't mean to disparage Holiday, Davison and Unc......those are 3rd stringers.

Result: You put unnecessary pressure on Durant, Amen and Alperen and Jabari.......

What questions do I ask? I learn nothing from your posts besides you having a huge bias for this one player for whatever reason. I ask nothing of anyone except when I want to spur thought and discussion.

Reed doesn’t become an RFA until 2028/2029, but they might trade him for the right guy. I’m not convinced, Ime hates him or Sengun, but he does have his favorites and prefers vets and defensive players, so he may try to trade them, but not because he’s a racist. He’s just an idiot. Unfortunately, Stone kowtows to him, so they are on thin ice. Sengun can ruin any chance to trade him with a great playoff series or two. Reed probably won’t get the opportunity.
