Knowing about it is kind of inherent to the "scandal" part of that phrase.

I don’t want Iran to have nuclear weapons. The majority of the world doesn’t want Iran to have nuclear weapons.

However I can understand why Iran wants them - and if I were the head of a nation I would want them. Ask Ukraine if they wish they had them right now. North Korea only exists because they have them.

Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump I and Biden kept Iran from having them. Trump claimed he destroyed their capabilities a year ago. So it makes no sense to go in now - and then to let them keep their plutonium.

I can’t agree on turning Iran into glass… there are 100 million people in Iran. Many of them are very good people and as a follower of the teachings of Christ, I cannot agree with killing them.

This war will result in countries such as Iran to try even harder to get nuclear weapons. Because having them is the only way to make sure the US doesn't start bombing you.

    MAGA in-laws update:

Had dinner last night with them, and when the disaster of Iran got brought up, and they couldn’t defend my wife getting mad at them that they were essentially defending genocide threats my mother in laws response was-

“Well I really just love Melania. She’s just so classy and beautiful that I feel like she’s always going to steer him in the right direction”

… which of course led to uncontrollable laughter.

Also had to explain to them the fact that right now Trumps lawyers are arguing to the Supreme Court that they need to overturn birthright citizenship, and they literally just would not believed us that this is true. Like they refused to believe that Trump is trying to denaturalize citizens who were born here who had immigrant parents. They also had no idea that married women would be disenfranchised under the SAVE act.

It’s just astounding that Trumps biggest supporters know the least about what Trumps actual policies are and when they do learn they just have this amazing mechanism to just literally not believe anything inconvenient.

So if anyone is wondering if Trump voters are falling off the Trump train don’t worry… I don’t think Trump has lost hardly anyone.

I enjoy when they still blame Democrats after a clear republican move. When Roe was overturned it was because of Biden.

he’s clearly lost a noticeable amount of support among his voters…Dems wouldn’t be massively over-performing in election after election and flipping republican seats left and right if he wasn’t

Dems lost MTG’s district by 11 points the other day…this was a district Trump won by 37 in 2024

Based on my conversations over the past few months, this is my sense of where things are: The double hater: those who dislike both sides. In 2024, they hated Biden but didn't necessary voted for Trump. In 2026, the hate for Trump is 2x the hate for Biden was. While the hardcore base is pretty set, and outside of actually getting their butts off the couch to vote, the independents, the leaners, and the double haters are all shifting away fast from this admin.

Hey MAGA, Happy Confederate Surrender Day! Do yourself a favor and go read Grant's memoirs. Here's a sample:

“The great bulk of the legal voters of the South were men who owned no slaves; their homes were generally in the hills and poor country; their facilities for educating their children, even up to the point of reading and writing, were very limited; their interest in the contest was very meagre--what there was, if they had been capable of seeing it, was with the North; they too needed emancipation. Under the old regime they were looked down upon by those who controlled all the affairs in the interest of slave-owners, as poor white trash who were allowed the ballot so long as they cast it according to direction.”

“Whatever may have been my political opinions before, I have but one sentiment now: that is, we have a government, and laws, and a flag, and they must all be sustained. There are but two parties now: traitors and patriots. And I want hereafter to be ranked with the latter.”

“No political party can or ought to exist when one of its corner-stones is opposition to freedom of thought and to the right to worship God “according to the dictate of one’s own conscience,” or according to the creed of any religious denomination whatever.”

“I would not have the anniversaries of our victories celebrated, nor those of our defeats made fast days and spent in humiliation and prayer; but I would like to see truthful history written. Such history will do full credit to the courage, endurance and soldierly ability of the American citizen, no matter what section of the country he hailed from, or in what ranks he fought. The justice of the cause which in the end prevailed, will, I doubt not, come to be acknowledged by every citizen of the land, in time. For the present, and so long as there are living witnesses of the great war of sections, there will be people who will not be consoled for the loss of a cause which they believed to be holy. As time passes, people, even of the South, will begin to wonder how it was possible that their ancestors ever fought for or justified institutions which acknowledged the right of property in man.”

I get that sense too. My commentary on the MAGA base though is about his hardcore base of voters not really the double hater types.

Meaning, if you are counting on his support to drop below 35% or so of the population I think you are mistaken based on my understanding of Republican/MAGA voters.

Has he lost supporters.... yes. I think the double haters are likely to just stay home while Democratic voters are going to be as engaged as ever. I'm just warning everyone to not just assume that he can get much lower in the polls, and the voting population than 40%. He could Nuke Canada and Mexico and it's my impression that not one single voter in his base would abandon him.

And while I think the independent/double hater types are an important swing vote, they are not more than 5 to 10% of voters based on my experience. They are loud, and get a ton of attention (think the "Manosphere" types) but they are NOTHING compared to the millions of boomers, and evangelical Christian older white people who are going nowhere, and will ALWAYS find a way to hate Democrats more than anything that shows up on a Republican ticket.

I think Democrats are going to have a good showing this November, and take back the House, and eat into the Senate Majority. However in 2028, even if Trump is running again (which I suspect he'll try, or he'll be unofficially on the ticket in a clerical supreme leader role) I would suspect that with enough time to build up hate for a Democrat by the right wing propaganda machine, that Democrat running in 2028 is still going to have a close election with Trump or Trump's successor. 2026 benefits Democrats ONLY in the fact that the motivation will be greater for Democrats. However that motivation on the right will be there hell or high water in 2028.

This is the key right here. They say they love Trump but when you ask them SPECIFICALLY why, they just start spouting off his talking points from the 2016 campaign. It's like, do you even keep up with the news??

i would have thought the actual pedophilia to be more important than the reaction to it.

i beg to differ. he unilaterally opened the border, creating a massive social and economic burden on the states, and effectively instigated a war amongst the populace. He is w/o out a doubt the worst president in my lifetime (starting with Ike), and likely of all time.
