No he is not....if Reed were on SA, he would be even better. Castle is on a better team with a proper coach and a heirarchy. He is a better defender, but nothing else. DD
He is also a better ball handler and plays stronger and more confidently at this point. In the end, I think both will be valuable players in the right system. I also agree that Ime has slowed Reed’s progression and am afraid for your health when FVV gets back next year.
Reed is a better fit for our team, but Castle is getting drafted ahead of him in a current redraft. Only time will tell in the future though
Do you even know the name of the coach of San Antonio? Come on, the Rockets got the alleged golden boy of the Popovich coaching tree. Not the 3rd or 4th choice after Udoka, Hardy and others. It ain't the coach that made Steph Castle an elite NBA defender and a borderline all star in year 2 - it's the talent he was born with and work he put in. Rockets missed out - it happens. No coach is going to make Reed Sheppard into Steph Castle any more than a coach is going to make Sengun into Rasheed Wallace Different guys, it ain't happening GTFO with that
That is not the ****ing point and you know it, it is about being used to the best of your abilities, and yes, living in Austin, I damned well know the coach of the Spurs.....who wipes the floor with Ime UDUMASS.... DD
It's funny to me that some still haven't learned enough about basketball where they fall for highly athletic scrubs like Castle.
You're utterly clueless and laughably incorrect. I've been a diehard since I was 7, former season ticket holder, friends with many of the Rowdies. Keep creating your own false narrative and embarrassing yourself on a public forum.
Yeah they are crazy Imagine Steph with his protege next to him doing similar things. Then imagine him training and learning the inside info directly from Curry on top of that
Getting to the line is an art form and it's the only thing Castle has on Reed as of right now. Everything else will come with more minutes, more shots, more training at the School Of Manu. Though some don't apply their gifts. Jalen Green with that set of hair should have drawn 7 freebies.
Reed was #1 on my board on draft night. He's still #1 out of all those guys. I think he has potential to lap the field of his draft class.
You mean they'd Kawhi us all over again? Morey: "Kawhi's hands are too big. Analytics say he won't be much of a three point shooter." WHIFF. And, yeah, Reed on the Spurs? The Spurs are a well-run organization. They develop their drafted players. Now, don't get me wrong. I believe the league knows which of their teams are in Siberia without help from the draft. But even taking draft "luck" into account, the Spurs would have valued Reed more from the get-go. Coach Udoka: "Shep! You played traffic cone defense? Sit down. Only my boys can play sh*t defense!" Eason and Jabari: "Right on, coach!" Udoka: "Shut up and go help your mom with the dishes. And take out the trash!"
Castle TS - 57.4 Reed TS - 56.4 One subsection of scoring doesnt matter as the overall efficiency of scoring. Reed is far more valuable to us due to his shooting but overall Castle is the better player so far esp since he is also a POA defender, rebounder and secondary playmaker.
Castle has the edge defensively now by such a wide margin that he's a better overall player currently. That said, the Spurs have Wemby. The difficulty of shots for Reed is much different than Castle. Castle's expected 2PG% is 54.4% and expected 3 point FG% 37.5% Reed 49.0%, and 35.5%. Some of that is Castle being a better ballhandler. A lot of that is defenses are willing to risk helping off Castle and living with Castle getting easier shots based on Castle's teammates. Reed, his efficiency has been disappointing, but would expect it to be better than Castle's in a similar situation to Castle. I like Reed, but I wanted more from his POA defense, and he still needs an efficiency bump for his scoring to be truly valuable. People talk about Amen talk developing a midrange game, but I think Reed is closer to doing it than Amen. I think Reed just needs a touch better handle, and his middie will go from ~45% to ~49-50%. I hope I'm not like the Paolo fans in 2 years, hoping Reed's efficiency goes up. I'll say Castle has been a lot better than I expected. Granted, I think he landed on one of the few teams suited for his offensive game.
