Regime change is tough when Iranians don't care about their own lives. Muslims routinely hide behind their own civilians to engage bad PR on opponents, or outright kill them overseas. Their primary weapon is PR and Trump knows the longer this goes on, the harder it will be to recover from it. Republicans have already started the leaks that this was all Trump and Netanyahu's doing against the advice of everyone else, so he's acting from a self preservation standpoint. They're also highlighting the fundamentalist Iranians they deported from the US. In no way have the goat humpers "won"-- they will go back to digging tunnels with bombs for the next 15 years but won't have USAID money to fund them.

 

And therefore, you agree with Republicans forcing European countries to up their defense budget. They couldn't even defend Ukraine against Russia and needed America to be their guiding light. Germany has shut off all it's nuclear power plants because of... a meltdown in Japan 15 years ago. They're now compromised.

Americans are no longer interested playing the PTA mom of every other country while they turn into welfare states and the American middle class is bled dry.

It's hard for liberals to admit in public, but republican foreign policy just makes sense.

 

I'm relieved he did. Hopefully he learned a f'ing lesson too.

I don’t know about “liberal” or Republican foreign policy”, but what I do know is that the MAGA foreign policy has been so comically bad that it almost seems compromised. The fact that you blindly follow it just informs people you are a moron.

You're probably right. He'll certainly find a way to excuse his behavior or blame someone else. That we can be sure of.

I'm afraid one day he won't back down. He'll decide to take a stand and show the talking heads on TV (that he values above most of his generals and cabinet) how powerful and smart he still is -- and how he doesn't back down all the time -- and it will backfire over and above anything we've seen to date.
