what? Then every team should employ this great strategy. Just outscore the other team. I don’t get it. Great teams always have a mix of both offense and defense. To say defense isn’t needed and a team should simply try to keep pace scoring is a fallacy. Your team isn’t always guaranteed to score. If that other team plays defense now you’re down big. What an odd philosophy.

And who’s to say we can’t stop them? That’s a losing mentality. That’s one player we have to worry about but not impossible to slow down or get a few stops against.

Great teams play both ends period. Strange times where people think you win with only offense while devaluing defense.

I never said anything about guaranteed scoring or that you can't stop them. Obviously, nothing is ever guaranteed in basketball, lol.

But some matchups give you a higher or lower chance of success depending on which unit is on the floor. It's all about playing the odds. When your defense has little chance of stopping the other team, you put your offensive unit out there to keep up.

 

The issue is that the players he thinks are awesome defenders are no better than the players he thinks are terrible defenders... and often they are objectively worse.

The whole bit where Ime has no clue what's actually happening on the court is why the Rockets have lost so many games they were leading in the 4th quarter and why it took that moron until late March to start doing what he should have been doing all season and starting Reed Sheppard.

(It's doubtful but) The Rockets are getting hot at just the right time. They could F around and go put some hurt on teams in the playoffs.

I'm not worried about the Rockets defense. It's their offense that is the biggest question mark.

I think people have been brainwashed by Ime.... he makes moves to put terrible players in the game who lose the lead and people attempt to justify it by talking about defense despite the fact that he put even worse defensive players in the game.

To you, it must be a losing mentality to NOT have your 50% FT shooter taking the tech FT. Lol.

 

He surprised me with his blocks. We already know he has great hands with his deflections and steals. I also think, for this Rockets team, better offense actually yields better defense. When you make a shot, you get to set your defense better, and when you don't turn over the ball, you get to avoid defending against a fast break. Maybe all of that adds up to being an overall plus team defender, who knows. But my point was that Reed should be in there to keep pace with the hot-Curry offense.
