    Because teams need to fill out their roster. And that’s what a roster is. There’s reserve players. I also believe it’s about development. He’s played before and he is in their plans likely for next year. Also Holliday is a FA next year.

    For those wondering why:

    He can't be on the playoff roster as a 2way. So they are signing him for a 15th player on the playoff roster.
