The daughter is a much better actress than the mother ever was, not that anybody cared about mom's acting when she was on screen.

My wife and I have been binge-watching Chicago PD, ever since we watched (5 weeks ago?) one of those "events" where one storyline carried across back-to-backs of "Chicago Med", "Chicago Fire," and "Chicago PD."

You can get a lot of good information from these shows. From "PD", we have learned cops in Chicago are led by a semi-corrupt dude followed by models. And the only bad word Chicago cops say is "prick."

I was joking last night with wifey: I think the writers on this show sit around a table:
    "Okay, story ideas. Who's next?"
"Me!.....okay, Detective Upton in tight jeans is walking out of a bakery. Suddenly, a shot rings out!"
"Uh, yeah, Tracy and Marina are always in tight jeans, so no need to mention that part." (chuckle around the table) '"Does anyone have an idea that doesn't start with, 'Suddenly, a shot rings out!'? We've done it to death."
(heads bowed around table, eyes downcast)
"Fine, we'll go with it. Then what happens?"

Plus, I'm sure the actors go through physical therapy to keep their arms from locking straight-out permanently:

My wife loves watching The Rookie. I remember when that one first came out, I thought it was going to be a gritty show about a rookie cop working the streets of L.A. That's a great concept for a show IMO. I'm not sure if the writers are female, but it quickly turned into a sort of cutesy rom-com in the style of Grey's Anatomy (which is putrid) and I very quickly stopped watching. Wife still loves it, which should tell you something.

As for me, I prefer the reality based shows like On Patrol Live and all the other documentary style shows that replaced COPS.

I saw the all Chicago three hour three show special. I don't know how Chicago Fire survives. I understand cop and medical dramas but that was good

I remember when the movie Backdraft came out, it was sooo hyped

Anyway as I wrote Chicago PD is over the top. A cop shoots a suspect every week . I still watch reruns, they're entertaining but way over the top

The Shield is one of the cop show GOATS. The series finale was a GOAT for any show.

Came here to suggest The Shield and Dark Winds, also. We Own This City is made by the same guy who wrote The Wire.

I separate the Sherlock Holmes type shows from the Law And Orders.

That being said I catch Elementary reruns when I can and I started a thread a few years back about Murdoch Mysteries. I love this show and it's been running since 2007 I believe

Murdoch Mysteries is great, a complete show with humor, character development, etc etc.
