It takes two to tango. You’re not getting Ware without giving up Sengun or Jabari. Wiggins would be an upgrade to Tari, but what would you be willing to give up for his 30m expiring contract? What is Miami’s incentive to give up the guys you want? I don’t want Herro, but I would certainly take him over FVV for a year. Would Miami take FVV and filler for Herro? I’ll answer for you, hell no. Would the Rockets be better next year with a backcourt of Amen, Reed, and Herro or a backcourt of FVV, Amen, Herro, knowing who our coach is? Why would Miami trade any of the guys mentioned to us for our trash? They wouldn’t, so would you give up frp’s for them along with our trash? Clearly, for Ware, yes. The other guys probably not. Wish listing for players on other teams is fine, but it needs to make sense for both teams.

I can see how Herro could work out if we still try to be a switchy, tall, and length team. .... but giving up any FRP picks and then needing to re-sign him? That seems like not a very good idea. Herro is currently at 20% of the cap, you think he is going to resign for less?

If you are talking to me, I wouldn’t give up picks for him and I wouldn’t extend him. As a rental, while jettisoning FVV and filler, I’d do it in one second.

Need a dominant rim protector for it to work. Ware would be a nice piece but i doubt he’ll be available.

Ware also sucks on defense, so there’s that

    Not directed at you.

Really thinking about it more, he doesn't replace what FVV and Eason would bring ( per the OP trade deal).

I would be happy to do Herro for KD. Everyone complains about lack of shooting…this guy shoots at a high level and can handle the ball. He’s got good size too. But we have to know what he’s gonna command for an extension. That’s the main reason Miami wants to move on from him. If he wants $40 it’s not worth trading for him.

As a backup plan where we decide to take a step back and hopefully it's amicable (no hard feelings) w/KD being moved....it's not bad. Like @Aruba77 said he does provide additional shooting and ball handling. Wouldn't say he is an Ime player.... but he has lasted and got paid under Heat culture.

Herro turns 27 next January so I wouldn't mind $40 million if we can do it for 2 years. As a comparison Sengun's $37 mil in 2027 is ~21% of the cap. Potentially FVV and DFS will be off the books in 2027.

I saw someone like B/R awhile back suggest Herro+FRP for Reed+Jabari. I think that’s fair value, but if you’re extending him, it probably needs to be in line with normal annual increases from his current contract. I like the firepower that provides, but Herro is not exactly durable.

Remember, there’s a good chance that the Rockets could have two lottery picks next summer. They can afford to take some chances.

If I could redo this thread I’d just do KD for Herro & 2026 1st. Would wouldn’t send Reed & Jabari while holding onto KD

    Sengun/Durant/DFS/Capela

Herro-Agrees to a three year $115 million extension with a team option on the third year.

Wiggins-Opts in and agrees to a similar extension worth 85 million.

    Davion Mitchell

    Jovic

    Adams/Shooting 5/Smith plays stretch 5 often
    Smith/Jovic
    Wiggins/Amen
    Herro/Reed
