....speaking of dealing in reality... just can't admit that setting goals and having accountability for young players can produce results. It's not just Ime... it's the entire coaching staff that is responsible but that type of thinking is beyond your reach.
I want Kon on the Rockets so bad.. Wanted him ever since UH played duke and saw he was the truth. Him paired with Reed would be so sweet
they would have the same defensive issues as he and Sengun but the shooting would be sooooooo worth it. My young five man team of choice would be like Wemby Amen Reed and Kon… and maybe someone like Jalen Johnson or Scotty Barnes (no I am not a huge Cooper Flagg fan so nah on him) they might struggle a bit defensively at times but I would never worry about them scoring lol
I don't think Ime is a bad player development coach, at least for teaching effort and defense and getting those foundations right, which is really important. Just really not a fan of his offensive system, rotations, and game-time adjustments (or lack thereof). I think there's going to come a time pretty soon when the young guys are going to have to graduate from the class of "play harder" and start learning some more advanced things from a better HC. Hopefully that defensive foundation and culture will stay around.
He does positive things even when his shot isn’t falling. His vision is by far better than any player on the active roster. We get easy buckets when he’s in the lineup. He just has to continue to get better on defense. He’s already hampered by being so short, but he has good hands and instincts to help make up for at least a bit of it, but he has to stay in front of his guy better and learn when and when not to gamble on a play. But it’s obvious we are a better team with him getting starter minutes. Just wish we had good shooters around him, he’d be getting 4-5 more assists a game.
he’s a cool dude. Sat next to him at the ra sushi bar a few years ago, he was by himself. Talked to him for an hour about basketball. Took sake bombs. He kept up!
He has always been mentioned to me as a nice and humble guy. Glad you got the chance to hang with him! I like my undersized Kentucky to NBA ball players (Rockets especially)

Shooting hasnt translated unfortunately. Hawks also have a ton of players like him like NAW and Dyson Daniels so he kinda got sidelined.
I agree. Udoka had to be threatened to start Reed. We needed a pg to handle the ball and Ime had one nailed to the bench for 90% of the season lol
