What to do with this team? (POLL)

Discussion in 'Houston Rockets: Game Action & Roster Moves' started by kjayp, Mar 26, 2026.

?

How should we proceed this offseason?

  1. Stay the course! We get back FVV and Adams and maybe make a minor deal or two...

  2. KD has to go! Dickerson has killed the chemistry and we need to pivot!

  3. Trade Sengun for Giannis! Add FVV and Adams and we're rollin old, but barring injury got a shot imo.

  4. Blow it up and resume tanking! We crapped out on this run of picks - lets try it again!

  5. Just fire Ime and the rest will work itself out...

I agree, Hakeem is out of reach, dude is the elite of the elite on Defense.....

Even Joker is no match for Hakeem 1 on 1....although Joker did a really good job leading teams in the past.

And offense. The way he developed the Dream shake and his all around post and mid range game was amazing. I think if he played im today's game he could have developed a 3 point shot too. One of the best defensive guys I've seen. His instinct for blocking shots is unmatched. His timing was impeccable.

I'm a Joker fan but he's definitely not Hakeem. He's a great player but Hakeem was just different. Jordan is about as arrogant as it gets and rarely gives people credit but he did to Hakeem

Joker can see the game 2 steps ahead of most NBA players that are not that smart, but Hakeem is smart......that is the difference.

    Epic battle ....

I really like Joker. He's a great player. . I just don't put anyone up with Hakeem outside of Jordan. Honestly, I could make a case for Hakeem despite my bias for him.

I'd love to watch it. Their basketball IT'S are off the charts.

I honestly think this team just needs to get healthy and make some minor changes to the roster. I’m crossing my fingers that FVV and Steve-o are healthy all next season. I’m also hoping that a good off-season of work will help DFS look like his old self again. DFS’s trade value will be at an all time low after this season so it doesn’t make much sense to trade him.

Tate and Holiday should be replaced in the off-season. I like both as people but we need some ball handlers and shooters. Will need to replace Holiday with a real PG and a real shooting guard. JD could take one of the spots. I don’t have big opinion on his game as it still seems a bit raw but I think he has some upside that’s worth exploring.

Then there is the difficult decision with Tari. This could go a few ways… 1) Ime is tired of Tari talking back and they let him walk. 2) he gets offered a deal and Stone works out some kind of S&T. 3) The Rockets resign him to a team friendly deal, Tari becomes a malcontent and they trade him at the deadline. Unfortunately, I don’t see a happy ending here where Tari is resigned on a team friendly deal and wins 6th man or most improved next season. I really like Tari and wish he would’ve taken the deal that was offered to him in the off-season.

    FVV/Reed/FA
    Amen/FA/FA
    Bari/Okogie/FA
    KD/DFS/Jeff
    Sengun/Adams/Capela

Ball handling and shooting should be a priority in the off-season. Getting FVV back will help but the Rockets need to deepen the roster in those two categories.

Blow it up. We didn’t get a superstar level talent in the past few drafts. That’s what you need to win. It is what it is. Sell high on what we have and try again.

Lol on FVV and Adams staying healthy all year. FVV has played over 70 games twice in his 10 year career. Adams has played 42, 58, 32 the last 3 years. Both are coming off of significant injuries and are journeyman players when healthy. Trading all our end of the bench players is your solution to our roster issues?

Other: start with a new front office. No point in rebuilding twice with the same one... asinine even.

Or same coach. We might as well run it back. They will suck again and then Stone and/or Ime will be gone and we can use the 27 draft as a springboard to the future, either by drafting or trading.

How Duke lost last night is exactly how I imagine the Rockets getting eliminated in the playoffs this year.

Love KD as a player, but we should trade him if we can get a good return. Who knows the return for him will be after this year, Otherwise stay the course and hope with the return of Adams and especially Van Fleet's we can do something next year.
With Wemby and OKC it is hard to see a championship regardless of what we do.

Spurs are one injury away from being unviable. I wonder how favorable the whistle will be for OKC once playoffs happen.

I mean.... we need to see how the playoffs go for the league and who might become available (superstar/star/rotation player).

I think the FO won't leave themselves as vulnerable to a lack of competent playmaker(s) on the team, whether on the bench or making a move for a starter. If we get bounced in the second round, I don't think it would be unreasonable to run it back with some tweaks to address the weaknesses.

Please tell us who would you trade in order to get a chance in acquiring a high pick in this upcoming draft ?

I hope PF won’t call the shots. I agree Stone and Ime need to be replaced at the end of this season immediately.

Honestly, I’d just blow this team up since my goal is to win a title. We have yet to secure a number 1 in the draft (due to bad luck) and I don’t think any of the young guys have the potential to become one.

In short, I’d make the entire roster available to the highest bidder.

Yep one got lucky and the other built slowly…then got lucky. We are still looking for our Shai/Wemby.

When they play a complete game, you can see the original thesis.
