https://www.facebook.com/HoustonTex...not-about-this-season-and-t/1247607044188162/ Ime Udoka reportedly told ESPN’s @mikecwright that “it's not about this season” and that the Rockets are prioritizing their future.
Yeah thou, Reed is going to be just this good? Everyone here pushed for a pg at the deadline, so we kinda figured it out tbh.
The season effectively ended when FVV went down. But it definitely ended and the team began to prioritize development again when Adams went down.
They should have been working with Reed last year. He should have been in the G League the 1st half of the year, getting his legs under him, 2nd half should have been getting some meaningful time with the Rockets.
I think this is more about not using assets prior to the deadline to strengthen the PG spot .... and being honest, I wouldn't have either - Unless there was a real star to be had, and there wasn't.
My problem with this sort of thinking is that Adams has been injury prone since 2019 since age 26. The same thing can be said about kd. Now we can apply it to FVV. development should’ve always been the priority. There should’ve been more balance to the equation between winning and development than initially. I just hate the way Ime and Stone are ru(i)nning this team. I think both are too inexperience their position to build this thing the right way.
Durant was the wrong veteran to add to this team (which is also applicable to every team Durant has been on since he left the Thunder). We need to take a step back and develop the young guys. I would package everyone and build around the four. Tari could stay if he takes a 1+1 (team option). Everyone else needs to go because they are just hampering development. The only player I could see staying that would provide value is Adams because of what he could do for Reed and just general mentorship but my issue with him is that he becomes too much of a crutch for Ime to lean on. He's been leaning on multiple crutches since his time here (Steady Freddy, Terror Twins, Adams Rebound Ball). Ime's biggest flaw is his inability to deal with mistakes from his young guys and it's hampered their confidence and development. We need to see if these young guys have it and if not we need to focus on the Phoenix and Brooklyn picks we still have and plan on using those for when we move on from Stone/Udoka.
FVV will be 33 with a bum knee. No thanks. Need to move him in the off season. His time was this season and it just didn't work out. I really hope they don't try to run it back to see "what if". Whatever "magic" was possible is no longer realistically capable of happening. The Steven Adams experience needs to go as well. Can't let injury prone role players decide a season. This team just needs a reliable PG to be contenders. Reed cannot be your starter.
So, once FVV went down, and then Stephen Adams, and the Rockets unwound, it comes to our worthless coach using this as an excuse? Then why did Stone trade away our highly valuable Brooklyn 1st rounder, if we're not there yet? Why trade for Kevin Durant? You don't like li'l white boy anyway, Udoka. You're only playing him because you're forced to do so. It was Plan D. You should have been playing him last season when we hadn't traded for a future HOF player. And Tilman won't fire this f***er. How many seasons left on his contract? My dream that will never be realized: Stone: "I don't think we should fire Ime, Mr Fertitta." Tilman: "Hmn. Yeah. That reminds me. You're gone, too." Stone: "What?!! What the hell am I supposed to do?" Tilman: "Babin's in Katy needs an assistant manager. You'd have to work Sundays, but....here's an application."
Make sense. Ime was pushing to win-now last year by kicking Reed's development to the curb for that "2nd seed in the west," so he can get his big extension. And now that he's financially secure, he can take things slowly after the team trades for 37yr old star by pairing him with a defacto rookie PG.
Maybe its all about KD selling tickets, getting out of the first round. He was never the future. The core 5 is intacted? KD is a fairwell show, as a fellow UT Alumni! lol I hope so!
No, no, no. You're wrong. Very tall lineup. No dribbling skills, let alone ability to pass or see the floor. No PGs. None. Point guards? We ain't got no point guards. WE DOAN NEED NO STEENKEENG POINT GUARDS.
I agree with this post. this team needs to focus on development and fundamentals. That’s why they’re struggling with. They weren’t good at the little things that matter in trying to win. This squad ev. At good health looks like the Silas rockets out there. can’t bring the ball up against 3/4 pressure, can’t inbound the ball in critical situations, cant win 4 on 3. Can’t even set a screen properly to get separation. So many little fundamental things they’re lacking. They can’t even feed the post to their two best players comfortably so kd and sengun have to constantly receive the ball outside the perimeter. This staff ain’t teaching ish out there. Theyre werent ready for a Kd.
İme always made every and any change when he was forced to. And still in each case he can’t see that it was the correct thing to do anyway. Same story here talking about Reed’s performance as something that is negative. He should have played him last year, the start of this year.
