Our pitchers will figure it out. I think they are trying too hard to get Ks. versus trying to get weak contact and easy outs.
And 19 last season so we aren’t talking about huge sample sizes here. He had one bad week last year where he was ass. His last six appearances of the season were all scoreless. You can’t possible tell me he blew up yesterday because “it was the 9th inning” when he struck out the first two batters and had a 5 run lead.
Just looked and 2022 he was at 0.56 in 19 innings in the 9th. And in what world is a 3.19 ERA in the 9th defined as “sucking”?
The Chas McCormick rule plainly states, in writing, that we can’t bring up anything prior to the previous season as evidence of someone being good or bad at baseball. A Yainer Diaz amendment was proposed, but rejected at the last board meeting.
The last 2 wins over the keystone cops of Anaheim were fun. pitching needs to get right and fast. Our offense will return to hot trash against better pitching. Whatever. We knew that anyway. Most unsettling is the performance of 2,3,4 in our rotation. That can’t continue.
I’m worried abreu is injured. Maybe his buildup isn’t all the way there, but velocity is down and he looked stiff today - not his normal smooth delivery. Maybe just in his head.
Lol nah buddy that’s you. You said he’s sucked in the 9th inning “for years”. From 2022-2024 he had an ERA under 1 in the 9th inning. He had literally one bad week last year where he got blown up.
What a strange series. Kind of felt like we were still in ST mode and the Angels weren't...at least in the first 2-1/2 games. Bats woke up and it's nice to see Walker contributing early. I'm not worried about Abreu, yet. It was a good move of Espada going out to get him before it got ugly. Imai definitely looked nervous. Once he calms down, I think he's going to be very good.
