@durvasa it truly is kind of those “wtf” moments for me that whenever I hear about war there is never any insight into the civilians getting killed. It’s always just service members

millions+ have died from the Afghanistan Iraq war and many countless more with their lives disrupted.

They also lost an E-3 AWACS in the attack on Saudi Arabia which is a double problem, because they can't build any more, about half (15 of 31 planes) of the original fleet is not flyable any longer, and they rest have high down times for maintance. Kegsbreath also killed the E-7 "Wedgetail" that was supposed to replace it.

AWACS are the flying radar and sensor platforms that act as "eyes in the sky" to control airspace.

The stuff damaged in the attack on the Saudi base - the AWACS and the 5 tankers are all listed as "damaged" but they're all literally burned to husks and split in half. They are 100% not reparable even though they are going to try to pretend like they could be for as long as they can to avoid having to admit it.

The loss of those planes was TOTALY PREDICTABLE based on how they were stored for anybody that's watched Ukraine punch up on Russia for the last several years. You can't line planes up in neat little outdoor grids out in the open for storage any longer.

I'm kinda gobsmacked at both MSM and markets not fully catching up. I mean, okay, I am a darkly inclined person, but the data we have available is pretty striking. And MSM largely just keeps repeating social media posts and official statements from completely unreliable figures in the US, Iran and Israel. And otherwise, seems to shrug, like "what are you going to do."

Markets are like, "well, we still have billionaires and trillionaires, so... everything must be okay? Please?"

 

I had a discussion on here once with a Trumper who said he didn't feel sorry for civilians slaughtered on the Gaza Strip. His justification was that they voted for Hamas, even though only 7% of the Gaza population has ever voted for Hamas. Not only that, since when did a vote for who leads your country make it OK to kill you as a civilian in war? That's not an exception under international law when it comes to crimes upon humanity. You see, it's that deep reaching up their butt for excuses that so many MAGA folks pull out to justify anything and everything Trump does, or Trump supports.

My support of Israel is based on them being by far the more moral party in the war. It has nothing to do with elections held 20 years ago. One side has specifically designated military bases where they have troops stationed and keep weapons and equipment. The other side hides among the civilian population. The side that hides among the civilian population could very easily target only military targets (that's the point of separating military targets from the civilian populace and infrastructure. They chose to target teens at a music festival, people at Kibbutzim, people waiting at bus stops, and civilians hiding in shelters to kill. They also chose to kidnap and rape women, kidnap children, and parade them around to the cheers of the population. The people of Gaza do nothing to oppose this. Where are the partizans feeding information to Israel about where prisoners are being kept, where rockets and mortars are being stored, where to find tunnel entrances, where and when attacks are being planned? No, my position isn't based on a single decades old election, it is based on the actions of the parties now and over the course of 80+ years.
