One game doesn't seem like abuse to me.

So he comes in tomorrow in a save situation and pitches like he did tonight?

Yall would all be seemingly singing a different tune.

Well, the track record is referring to the Hader mismanagement, which we're still dealing with.

I guess what I really wish is that Abreu got 3 outs on 3 pitches.

In that scenario, I’d be mad at Abreu, not Espada for failing to bring him in the day before with a 5 run lead.

Cristian Javier really looks overweight compared to 2022.

Okert warming up after Abreu is embarrassing. Is Okert the Future Closer after Abreu goes down with a injury.

But you're not mad at Abreu for getting 2 quick outs on 8 pitches and then sh****ng the bed tonight?

Basically, anytime a closer hasn't pitched in 3 or 4 days, they'll pitch in whatever non-save situation comes up. You don't want your closer to go too long without work because then they'll be rusty when they need to come in during a 1 run game. It tends to not be an issue as much for other random pitchers who don't come in during those high pressure situations and who can get used in middle innings pretty regularly anyway.

For all the talk about Hader's overuse last year, almost all of his non-save pitching was in that scenario. The real problem was that the Astros were in a ton of close games and tied games also.

As an example, today, SF lost their 3rd straight game and they pitched their closer in the 9th for the same basic reason.

Really like the interview with the bench coach. Seems to exude more confidence than Espada. Maybe winning the WBC made me bias towards him.

Teng did his Urquidy Game 3 vs Philly impression -- except, Astros came back and won this time.

Thank the mighty Heavens the offense woke up. Stay AWOKEN.

Jose Altuve on pace for 162 walks this year. Taking advantage of his new strike zone.

If his value becomes more OBP, so be it. The usual blunders might increase but at least pitchers throw extra pitches -- and maybe the defense makes an error.
