Bryan, bro. The time to throw challenge hitters is *before* you walk two batters with a five run lead and two outs.
? I thought we were just debating? Not saying I'm right, just my opinion. Relax! All Astros fans here.
Apparently you've never actually watched baseball in your life. I doubt there is a single closer in MLB that never pitches in non-save situations.
20 BB and 8 HR allowed in 3 games is less than ideal. I think the pitchers should do better at that stuff. I also think the hitters should hit more better.
You're not wrong, but we seem to do it more than most teams. It also seems to occur much more than I remember watching baseball in the 90s and early 2000s, when closers could, you know, actually pitch more than twice a week. I have absolutely no data to back that up so I could be completely wrong.
It's the first week of the season and he hadn't pitched in 8 days...I wouldn't read too much into it. Seemingly.
I seem to have read to much into it, but I also seem to recall Espada having a track record of abusing his soft closers.
I don’t like it. We don’t have Hader or Sousa. I don’t care if Abreu might get a little stale sitting. We need all of his outings to be in leverage situations. Also, seems he isn’t super sharp in non save situations, so perhaps the upside isn’t that good, except to get him work. Which we can do with him throwing BPs or bullpens if we really need to.
