It may be true that most players are more dominant on one side of the ball, but it is not a given that you are great on one side and dogsh*t on the other. We need Reed and Sengun to get better at defense and then their offense will make up the difference. Sengun can guard the post just fine, but he is not a rim protector and too slow of foot to guard the perimeter. If he is your center, you better have 4 plus defenders that can shoot. It is the only answer on that side of the ball.
It was pretty bad during Silas. But I will concede to you that any coach could have done what Ime did with the addition of Fred and Dillion. I really wanted Nick Nurse and his pinky ring.
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7157433/2026/03/30/rockets-tari-eason-team-meeting/ As the pressure of the looming postseason weighs on teams, these meetings near the end of the season usually go in one of two directions. They either bring the group together or further exacerbate existing divisions. Either way, the Rockets players needed to express their frustrations over their recent struggles.
It is a peculiar timing, it does not guarantee that it would not happen again.... And in the Playoffs team meetings are just not going to fix it.
If I was a player I would be at a point where I roll my eyes every time Ime gets a tech or starts jawing at opposing players and coaches.
let's not get carried away. Ime getting young player's buy in on defense along with vets like FVV and Brooks did work, we were able to grind it out with essentially every team in the NBA. I'm not sure if Ime knows how to make any adjustments on offense, or make adjustments on defense based on personnel. He's doing like the whole Kevin McHale Clap Clap Clap Play Harder thing, and it's not working.
In hindsight you don’t really hire a guy who was as sleazy as Ime was in Boston. Not something a stand up guy who holds himself accountable would do.
The more I watch this team, the more I'm no longer believing this. Now if you want to tell me Ime is better defensive coach than Silas? Ok. But Silas was a bottom-5 coach so that's not saying much. Now if you want to contend Ime is a top level defensive coach? I'm more inclined to disagree. With Brooks and FVV gone this year it's clear the defense is not being propped up by our youngsters, despite the fact that one of those youngsters is possibly the most talented wing defender in the game. If we use this clutchfans thread as an example, that lineup has a defensive rating of 122. For reference, Silas Rockets teams averaged 117 defensive rating. That's with absolute dog crap level of defenders on his roster. If Ime has any skill, it's at identifying good defenders. But when you have to overpay the market to get these defenders, as FVV, DFS, Brooks all got way above market money when they signed here, then you're not helping the team, just your own resume.
It not just the affair. Affairs happen. It's when he was exposed and was asked to stop, he refused. It's like he thought he had the right to sleep with someone else's wife. It's like he has no regard to the embarrassment and pain he caused to his own wife and to the woman's husband.
Lmao what kind of idiots believe a team meeting solved this teams issues It’s a bunch of selfish cunts playing for each other outside of Amen, Reed , Okogie
