Well, here we are, it has come out that they don't like each other, so let's assume for the sake of this thread, that the message is true.

Who should the Rockets build around?

A 37 year old hall of fame scorer? Who will be 38 and 39 in the next 2 years.

A 23 year old 2 time all Star Center - who is a triple double threat every game

This is the choice the org is facing - IMHO, you listen to offers from everyone - as we build the team, but if it were me, I would look to trade KD this offseason - or sit him down and tell him it is Sengun's team and he will be playing OFF of Sengun as the hub.

What would you do, whom would you build around if you were the GM?

Missing a few options there buddy - I personally wouldn't be heartbroken if both were gone next year.

Not really, this is a which one do you keep thread.

If you trade them both, that's ok, I guess too, but for me, if you have to keep only one, it is Alpi.

Neither, but I'd rather keep Sengun over KD. I'd hate to see them trade Sengun to make KD happy.

If it were up to me, neither, move forward with Amen, Reed, and Jabari

Although we'd not really be building around them (unless Amen develops a jump shot) so much as keeping them around as the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th options while we try to find a #1 option to anchor the team

What will probably actually happen is we'll either run it back (actually the better scenario, believe it or not) or make some ill-advised trade sending Sengun + a bunch of draft capital for Giannis, which would fail spectacularly due to poor spacing and age/injury problems, Stone and Ime would get fired after a couple years of playoff exits and KD's retirement, and we'd be back to where we started post-Harden.

...if you are just looking for confirmation of what you already believe then you mind as well have had one voting option - ha.

I mean you are already "leading the witness" when you frame it like this:

A 37 year old hall of fame scorer? Who will be 38 and 39 in the next 2 years.

A 23 year old 2 time all Star Center - who is a triple double threat every game

I am adding truthful details - to assist folks.

You can call it leading, but it is truth.

If you can get KD to ask out, try to get some of the value back, (top 14 pick and decent salary in return, I would trade KD for Cedric Coward, Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks, which is ironic and Phoenix is insane for passing on him) I think this experiment seems to be a failure.

Let the team take a step back with control of picks.

Alperen clearly has more value in a trade than a 37 year old (all time great) malcontent . So you could get better in the short term by trading Alperen likely.

This iteration is clearly not a championship team and trading Alperen from Giannis likely doesn't put the team up there with San Antonio or OKC, unless you trade Amen for an elite player who better provides spacing next to Giannis (maybe Franz Wagner) in the meantime. I'd consider a Franz for Amen swap but that's a true bummer to basically draft no one who stays and is a building block.

The likely scenario is the Rockets run it back with this group + Fred and use the lack of being hard capped to make a few margin moves. I don't think that's the end of the world. Being just a playoff team for a year or two until KD retires is fine.

Just make sure we don't keep Ime. I'm at a point I don't care about the rest.

Yeah, that part is true, he clearly doesn't like Ime or the situation......honestly, the league is littered with players getting rid of their coach. - Sengun sees that IMe isn't a good coach, he isn't stupid.

I'd trade Sengun. Seeing him just completely get shut down in the playoffs against GSW was it for me. At times they had the Podziemski kid on him and other smaller players and Sengun didn't take advantage at all. You don't have to be a "seasoned vet" to know to attack a smaller player in the paint. His stats to me are empty stats. He should be able to net a better haul as well.

If KD was younger you keep him, but he's 37. Alpi is still only 23.

Noted body language expert Kendrick Perkins & Charlie Villanueva said they don’t like each other. :D @TimDuncanDonaut

    Who would you rather keep?

    16x All Star, 11x All-NBA, who will be 38 & 39
    or
    Baby Scola … Literally Scola™

KD will be here next year, much to CF chagrin. Sengun likely will be too. But if one is gone, I’ll say it’ll be Sengun.

    Ime will be back
    Stone will be back
KD will be back (unless he asks for a trade, not the org. on their own trading him because they have buyer’s remorse or whatever)

You think he’s a hoe for saying it, but deep down, most of you agree or know he’s right.

You're not wrong, we're probably just running it back and pretending Steady Freddy will fix everything

Hmmm. We are not contending next season. So keep the guy who will be 38 next season or the guy who will be 24 next season and will continue to improve? Pretty easy choice for me. Keep Sengun. If the fit is still a problem, move him. But u don’t move Sengun over KD unless u are contending. Obviously if u can get a legit young star for Sengun that’s a better fit with Amen then u do it regardless. But I don’t like the idea of old star chasing with Sengun.

we are playing with house money having KD stay healthy this yr. Cash in now!

Easily Sengun. The hard question is whether you keep Alpi or Amen.
