He still does it occasionally, but yeah, I've been thinking that a lot of his efficiency issues simply stem from choosing to take too many bad midrange shots / shots that aren't deep enough in the paint.

I feel like the vision for him to be a max-level player (which doesn't necessarily mean a #1 option, he can just be a #2 guy) is one of the following:

    1) Get a lot better at scoring on these shots and/or at making three pointers. If he can become a more-efficient 22-24 points per game guy that's easy max value. I think this is looking less likely these days, but not out of the question, we've seen flashes of it.

    2) Re-focus his game, de-prioritize scoring for himself and become more focused on playmaking and defense, while getting just a little bit better at 3P shooting (i.e. Draymond Green level). I think he'd actually be a better player if he was a 16, 9, and 9 guy with more efficient shooting and more consistent defense. The way he plays right now wastes a lot of possessions. To be fair, some of this is due to the lack of great 3P shooting around him, a problem that has plagued us his entire career.

    https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...unmpo-trade-wes-edens-jimmy-haslam-marc-lasry

… "Giannis is going into the last year [of his contract]," said Edens, the team's controlling owner until April 2028. "So one of two things will happen: Either he will be extended or he'll be traded."

"The likelihood you'll let him just kind of play out the last year, we can't afford that. It's not consistent with what's good for the organization. That's not a Giannis issue. That's any player that's in their last year."

… Multiple sources across the league said the Bucks' asking price was enormous, with an executive from a third team describing the Bucks' process as "gauging the market" and their price as "all our draft picks and good young players."

The Golden State Warriors offer included four unprotected first round picks in pursuit of Antetokounmpo, sources said, but never seemed to gain much momentum on a deal.

The players the Bucks did seem interested in were younger building blocks such as VJ Edgecombe of the Philadelphia 76ers or Evan Mobley of the Cleveland Cavaliers, sources said.

… So far, the Bucks' play on waiving-and-stretching Lillard in order to sign Turner has backfired. Antetokounmpo has missed 32 games with various injuries, Turner has not been impactful, and the Bucks have struggled to find any consistency. After a season like this, multiple league executives made the case that Bucks' best strategy would be to trade Antetokounmpo for a haul of draft picks and strong young players rather than doubling down on this season's failed experiment and offering him a massive extension.

"He's still a game changer, but he's 31 with a history of leg injuries," a rival executive said. "And now you'd basically be trading for a guy on an expiring deal, so I'm not sure the offers they'll get this summer are going to be better than what they already got."

Instead of looking to trade Antetokounmpo this summer, the Bucks could try to acquire new players -- most likely other teams' distressed assets -- in the hope of convincing Antetokounmpo to sign the extension they can offer him in October.

"There's still another play," said one source close to the organization. "Put a maximum contract extension in front of Giannis -- and dare him to turn it down."

Trade Durant for Myles Turner and Kuzma and see if Giannis will stick around the bucks for one more go of it next to a “superstar”.

If the rockets did get giannis to pair with durant. It be for 1 year rental.

As both players will be UFA After 2027-28. With Durant most likely to retire, but the problem persist that it could only be
a 1 year rental where as the rockets just dump this team they got, to rebuild around the 2027 draft.

Giannis is going to want to get 1 last contract, so it more then likely at age 32-33 he will try to get his last paycheck with someone.

I feel like unless we are getting rid of Amen, our focus needs to be on acquiring shooters. Giannis is a poor fit with our best prospect. And Giannis has been spending too much time in street clothes these last couple of seasons. I think emptying our coffers for Giannis would be a big mistake.

Herro is a good player, but he's paid appropriately in my books (i.e., limited trade value). Ware, he's worth a good FRP. I'd guess Herro and Ware are worth about 2 FRPs combined.

Miami has 2 FRPs that were tradeable. So, roughly, Giannis is being valued at around 4 FRPs. I don't think the trade value will go up. I'd guess the opposite.

I'd guess Sengun, matching salary, and a FRP would be viewed similarly to the Heat offer, and it could go either way on what the Bucks wanted. I'd think 2 FRPs and Sengun would be an easy win if the Rockets wanted Giannis that much. I get Sengun is having a down year, but I expect he'll rebound well next season and think many in the NBA feel the same way. However, I think Ware would fit the Rockets. If the Rockets can get the Bucks willing to trade Giannis to the Rockets, Stone should send Giannis to the Heat for Ware and picks.

Giannis in a Rockets uniform is not happening. This thread needs to die.

This is exactly what I proposed and was lambasted endlessly. I actually had us getting Wiggins in the deal for salary matching purposes.

How's about a 3-way between the Rockets, Heat and Milwaukee

    Houston - in
    Herro
    Ware
    #1

Houston gets a deeper bench and more shooting, plus a shot blocking presence. Plus it allows Jabari Smith to become more of a #2 option next to KD

    Heat in - Giannas

Heat gets a star presence they've been lacking since D-Wade left

    Milwaukee in - Sengun

Sengun can finally play at his natural position of PF, next to a center who can stretch the floor, in Myles Turner.

Giannis for Sengun is an offensive upgrade. They’re comparable shooters and passers. However when teams sag off Giannis, he still gets 28+ points on high efficiency. When teams sag off Sengun he’s 23 points on mediocre efficiency.

More importantly, while Giannis is not classically a rim protector, he would be a far better rim protector Sengun is. That improves the defensive ability of all 4 other defenders on the floor.

Finally, despite the fact that Sengun is young and an all star I don’t think Udoka believes in him. He just prefers tough guys over creative guys. He’s tried or succeeded in acquiring C’s so often. I don’t think it’s a good trade but if I were Sengun I’d be worried. They could trade him if he doesn’t exceed expectations in the playoffs.

I can only find you proposing Sengun, Reed, DFS, Capela, and 3 FRPS for Herro, Wiggins, and Ware, and being endlessly lambasted for it.

Mine, removing the Bucks as an intermediary, is essentially Sengun for Ware, matching salary, and a FRP.

The difference in your trade and mine is essentially Reed + Matching Salary (about - 1 FRP in value) + 4 FRPS for Wiggins and Herro..

People weren't lambasting you for the idea of Sengun for Ware. People were lambasting you for thinking the way to make the value equivalent was the Rockets would have to send Reed, matching salary, and 3 FRPs for Herro and Wiggins.

The Rockets should go after Giannis at all cost, including Amen. He’s probably the only guy who gives us a shot against Wemby. Whether he is willing come here is another question though.

Go get either Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown for KD.

Giannis can't even lead his Milwaukee team to anything significant in the Eastern Conference. What can he do with the Rockets, turn them into the Bucks?

Now these are the real kind of stars we should be targeting more than ****ing Giannis. We've already seen where continuously trading for end of prime vets gets us...

Absolutely not and I typically agree with your Rockets takes. I want neither

I like how the clowns who jerk off over this trade idea can't even make a rebuttal to the hilarious fact that the Bucks built a team around Giannis' strengths. And still were embarrassed more often than not.

Yet these clowns think a franchise who hasn't had the inept Giannis for years will somehow perform better than the franchise who bent over backwards building a team around the loser.
