My personal hole in the wall restaurant is Captain Toms on 1960, best fried shrimp and gumbo in the city. I have been going there for 25 years and it hasn't changed except for a few outside improvements.............its GOOD and CHEAP

I haven't been but down the street from work and will try it. I actually loved the 59 diner, sad it closed.

My fav BBQ spot is Pit Room, in a pinch Pappas (yeah I know), but I live in midtown and it's all about convenience...

For food truck $1 tacos I go to Tacos Laguna, so good and cash only...

Love that place. Cheapest fresh shucked oysters anywhere. I dont mind sitting next to a stranger and chit chatting it up a little bit but damn do I wish that place was bigger for a little bit more elbow room.

I would hope that there were far more than 59 diners left in Houston or all of the restaurants would close.

Pinkertons is ok, but it isn't on the same level as Lockhart BBQ or Austin BBQ.
