First thing I remember seeing him in was Top Secret! (the exclamation point was part of the title), which i remember seeing in a theater.

It was a very silly movie.

His Jim Morrison was scary good. Like it's hard to tell if it's him or the real Jim Morrison good.

I agree! It was unreal. He was like a chameleon in his roles that's for sure. He could just morph into a completely different looking character.

Rest in peace, Val Kilmer, while I remember the films you were in. What a legacy!

I never saw The Doors but I remember how much praise he and the movie received. I was young and being black none of my friends were interested so but I was just on the buzz

As many great starring roles he had I always first think of him being Christian Slater's conscious as Elvis on True Romance

Real Genius was one of those "epitome of 80s movies" movie...I watch it anytime I see it on.

If you haven't seen The Salton Sea and Wonderland I recommend checking them out. Two of his lesser know movies but both great Imo.

This trailer looks like a parody of a trailer.

That's what the surviving members of the band said. They commented that they couldn't distinguish him from Jim Morrison.

He was an amazing actor, even if he was apparently an absolute prick to work with. Real Genius is still in my top 5 comedies of all time. Top Secret! was hilarious. And his Doc Holiday is one of the great performances ever.

    RIP
