Agree that there are some counties here and there that could move to different regions, but overall I think this map represents Texas well. Also crazy how South Oklahoma and Gulf Coast have larger populations than most states.
I agree that it does a respectable job and questioning - debate for Counties on the edges - boundaries of Regions is to be expected. The population of Texas is over 32 million and growing Depending on the numbers used, that is about 7 - 8 million behind California. Something like this for the major Metro areas Metro Houston....................7.9 million Metro DFW ..........................8.4 million Metro San Antonio..............2.6 million Metro Austin........................2.4 million ------------------------------------------------------ ............................................21.3 million
With the growth around both Austin and San Antonio, I think it’s fair to lump them together from a population base perspective, especially in Texas where everything is far apart, 79 miles is nothing.
Interesting thread. I grew up in Channelview, mostly. I had a deep Southern drawl until I moved to Alaska as a teenager. I have lived in New Zealand for over 20 years now. I am mistaken for Canadian sometimes. My wife says my Southern accent comes out when I am angry, or watch Houston sports.
