You must believe Acuff will suddenly be interested in playing defense, because he hasn't shown that yet and I don't see Ime giving many minutes to a guy who isn't interested in defending anyone.

tbh... idk enough about acuff to render an opinion on this proposal...

but i do appreciate that OP put it forth without referring to any of our guys as a scrub or other derogatory terms...

    :)

You triggered a little PTSD :). You reminded me that this is that time of year when we all start turning on each other and tearing the team apart. Every year, in about a month, it's like we get some damn cabin fever and everyone starts calling names and getting personal. DD gets a break though strangely enough, so that's ok.

Way to go OP. You've brought a little poetry and positive vibes into the off season. Good job.

    Today it's alright
    But tomorrow who knows what
    Offseason brings spite?

We could have had DAJ…or maybe even a top 4 pick if we had just kept those Nets’ picks.

I think this has changed... Since we are below the 2nd apron, Tari can be combined with other players in a sign & trade, but only half of his new salary is included in the trade calculations.

I agree with your principle, but OKC is not a good example. They have all the draft capitals in the world. They have to use them, and moving up is a good way.

they could absolutely use draft capital to trade for players, but mostly they use the picks to draft players. That’s what I’m getting at.

Didn't read it as it was too long and looked like a long ee cummings poem.

Was it an ode to Roy?

I like Acuff, but not for price it would take to get him. No way. He’s obviously a good scorer, but he is small, a poor defender, and a so-so athlete. I’m also not sure his game will translate well - he takes a lot of mid-range shots that will be much harder to convert in the NBA.

elite shooter (from mid and long range), and playmaker with amazing handles. 6’7” wingspan. Guaranteed all star. One of the safest picks in the draft. It’s a damn shame we fumbled away the nets pick in this amazing draft.

lol I love when people say a prospect is a “guaranteed all star.” Acuff is no where near a sure thing. Could he become an all star? Sure. But to say he will definitely become one is absurd. There are a lot of concerns about his game.

    guaranteed all star ;)

I take your point but I do think he’s one of the safest picks in the draft.

I don’t think I can call any player who is a major defensive liability a “safe” pick. I can think of another 6’3 guard who averaged 23 ppg in college, was considered good-not-great athlete, and was a major defensive liability: Cam Thomas.

I’m just not sure Acuff is an explosive enough athlete to have his game fully translate to the NBA at his size. His measured vertical at the combine was 36.5, ranking him about 36th out of 75. For comparison, Sheppard’s was 42 inches.

Alperen Sengun being credited something because Wembanyama had succes this post season was not even remotely on my bingo card.

but it makes sense because folks have been crediting him things he hasn’t accomplished his entire career.

the Cam Thomas comp is nowhere remotely close to Acuff. Acuff is a million times better ball handler, passer, facilitator. Cam is just a chucker shooting guard. Acuff is a real floor general. I think he can become a decent defender. Time will tell but he has the potential to be better than anyone we have on our roster not named Kevin Durant. We really f’ed up trading out of this draft. Disastrous actually.
